My experience of being treated roughshod by Big Tech # 2 (Quora)—personal story
Quora ^ | 8/2/2022 | Me

Posted on 08/02/2022 12:32:43 PM PDT by Phoenix8

My entire original answer:

“ Because a dozen or so major cities with a majority of the nations criminals, drug users, welfare recipients, misfits and radicals would control the country. Plus the great % of sparsely populated but productive part of the country would have little say on how they are governed.

The original framers of our constitution wanted a truly representative democracy where all peoples/groups/minorities would have a say in their governance.

They didn’t want mob rule.

PS

of course i realize the mega cities have many, many decent and productive people living in them”

“Thank you for reading this”

Quora is a sewer of arrogant west coast liberals.

My favorite thing about them is how proud they’re of their education credentials.

“Hey look at me!” I have a M.A. in “technological philosophy.”

“ALL the money comes from cities?”

Well your facts are correct. Our city has about 6% of the state population but is responsible for 68% of the murders. Of course it’s been run by Democrats for years.

Think about that. You are about 11x more likely to be a murder victim here than in any other part of the state.

Oh yes, we soak up a lot of money, both local, state and federal. Imagine how much it takes to find, charge, prosecute, convict and imprison one junkie who murders with a gun.

That’s state AND federal charges. The arrest is from local funds, either the city or county. The murder charge is state, a felon with a gun is federal, a drug addict with a gun is federal, and the gun was probably stolen at some point, again federal.

That’s about 10 years plus in the federal pen, on US taxpayers’ dime, then 50 years to life in the state pen, again on state taxpayers’ dime.

And most companies try to avoid putting factories here. The business environment is much friendlier in Republican counties. And it’s safe so people will be willing to relocate there to work. Smith and Wesson for example just moved to our state, but far away from our city.

It’s not just welfare that costs the taxpayer.

“First if all how ridiculous is that? ALL the money comes from cities? Not tax revenues from factories outside of cities, natural resources, farming, government owned land, casinos and resorts….all our tax money comes from cities???”

The reason they spout this nonsense is because Daniel Patrick Moynihan started writing studies and papers in the 1970’s about how the big cities were subsidizing everybody else.

We have a progressive income tax, so of course high income people are going to pay a lot of taxes. What the liberals don’t like to talk about is all the public & private capital “sloshing around” in the form of non profits & grants in
those cities.

The people saying the red counties and states are ‘moochers’ are using flawed data.

There are a number of conservative sites that use Quora for their comments system. I don’t understand it.

Just a hot tip on the Electoral College:

For as much as the Left and the Democrats despise and hate the Electoral College - they SURE WORKED HARD in 2020 [read: cheated hard] to pick up the only two at-large electoral votes that were available to them...

The numbers behind the Nebraska at-large electoral vote are REAL entertaining, when you start looking into it.

So, basically, the Lefty who called you a hick is a lying POS and a supreme hypocrite.

What’s rather comical about that individual’s perspective is the presumptuous worldview. I lived in urban areas until retirement. My current neighbors either have more advanced degrees than mine or have operated successful businesses. If you speak with the farmers, you find that they have degrees in hard science (chemistry, agronomics, etc.) Your critic probably has a degree in underwater basket weaving. People who are that impressed with themselves are an endless source of hilarity for some of us. Just for giggles, why don’t you inquire re: his major concentration in school?

why are you expecting equal treatment from leftist extremist totalitarians.

It isn’t going to happen. you no longer have free speech, you are no longer an equal citizen in the world and in this nation.

"The original framers of our constitution wanted a truly representative democracy Republic (Actually a Constitutional Republic)"

I read through most of them, and, unsurprisingly, most of the votes went to the stupidest of answers (with is normal on Quora).

This proves how uneducated (and one sided) many/most of the younger generations are today.

About 12 years ago I sold some stuff on ebay.

On one item, a guy bid and was the high bidder, but he wouldn’t pay! He wanted a $3 discount, which I would not give him. Via the ebay message system he called me every name in the book and then some, over and over and over. I did NOT take the bait! ALL my replies were polite but firm, I expected full payment. But he kept calling me names.

I contacted ebay customer service and a manager told me that the guy would probably be suspended for the things he had written. But at the time, he had a feedback score of about 700; mine was about 50. In the end, ebay did ... NOTHING except refund me the fee I paid for the sale. He was not suspended.

I relisted the item and sold it, but at a lower price.

I HATE ebay!

‘An online argument with total strangers...

why would it be any less productive than arguing face to face with complete strangers in a public forum, like a large school district’s board meeting...?

“The original framers of our constitution wanted a truly representative democracy where all peoples/groups/minorities would have a say in their governance.”

No they didn’t.

The word “democracy” does not appear in any founding documents for the USA. It’s not in The Declaration of Independence, nor in the Constitution, nor in the Bill of Rights, nor in the Northwest Ordinance.

Neither does the term “representative democracy.”

Please do not use those words to label or to describe the United States of America.

Democracy always descends into tyranny.

Whenever someone speaks of “our democracy,” ask them who they mean by “our.”

You’re correct, we are a constitutional republic with what could be termed democratic institutions & representation.

Which is a big difference from what the Wokecrats are selling.

The player who retaliates gets the foul call!

Learning to accept injustice and externally-imposed suffering is hard, but necessarily to grow spiritually.

The highest, the most saintly form of forgiveness is bestowed silently, and immediately. Directly in the wake of the insult or injury in question. We all must try to get to that plane of equanimity. Fair warning—those being forgiven in this way will almost always fail to perceive that they’ve done anything wrong or requiring forgiveness. So consider only allowing your subsequent behavior toward them to be the subtle signal that they’ve been forgiven. Telling them, “I forgive you”, can be a little too “on the nose”, prompting resentment. And confusion, too, particularly because they are neither asking for pardon nor feeling any real remorse.

Thank you for all the kind words and corrections.

Besides that I will only say I thought a Republic WAS a representative democracy? Or a form of.

People don’t want to discuss issues. They want an echo chamber. They want to hear their opinion come out of your mouth.
