Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan on Tuesday amid warnings from a furious Beijing that any U.S. politician visiting the island nation will 'come to no good end' if they 'play with fire.'
Her Air Force plane - with its distinctive blue and white colors and American flag on the tail - touched down in Taipei at 10:45 pm local time.
The Chinese, meanwhile, backed up their words with a shore of force.
As the speaker's Air Force C40 approached Taipei, Chinese Air Force Su-35 fighter jets were crossing the Taiwan Straits, local media outlets reported.
And chilling footage shared on Chinese social network Weibo appears to show amphibious tanks on the coast of Fujian along the Taiwan Strait. Further footage shows military equipment on the move in the city of Xiamen.
But Taiwan gave Pelosi a warm welcome. The island's tallest building, TAIPEI 101, lit up with a welcome message for Speaker Pelosi and supporters held welcome signs out of the hotel she will reportedly stay in.
Pelosi is the highest-ranking U.S. elected official to visit Taiwan since 1997. The White House is aware of her location.
'The speaker's flying aboard a military aircraft so we'll know,' spokesman John Kirby said at Monday's press briefing when asked how the White House would know if Pelosi touched down in Taiwain.
The speaker's Air Force jet left the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday morning, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24. The site later crashed after 300,000 people tried to chart Pelosi's journey.
Beijing earlier warned that the United States will 'pay the price' if Pelosi visits Taiwan while Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday that those U.S. politicians who 'play with fire' on the Taiwan issue will 'come to no good end'.

I can see Pelosi doing this as payback to the CCP for the revelation about the CCP spy. She might have felt embarrassed by them.
Someone else upthread said it best, that Pelosi's a mumbling stumbling drunk, to which I had "who happened to mumble and stumble onto doing the right thing, which exposed China's threats as weak and hollow."

As someone who's believed since that idiot Xiden stole the Presidency that China would invade Taiwan "any day now", their bluster has been exposed by a mumbling, bumbling drunk who'd be a hell of a lot easier to intimidate by China demonstrating their power and willingness to invade by flying over WHILE she's there.

Ok, let's try this: Do you personally know anyone who trusts the lying liberal lamestream media? I'm guessing that the nice, sociable guy you are, you know lots of people. So do I. I talk politics, media, "news" with everyone I know.
I can tell you to a person that less than a handful believe anything they read in the media, see on the news or read on the internet. Overwhelmingly, with a handful of exceptions, almost everyone I know says it's all propaganda.

Because yesterday, when Nancy was in the air, John Kirby said, ‘(we) don't support Taiwan's independence’. That's about as clear a green light for China as I've ever heard. Those poor folks are about to become Uyghurs.
And by coincidence Biden’s mouthpiece came out with a statement yesterday the the US supports the “one China” policy and not Taiwan as an independent entity.
Nancy’s visit was just cover for that. And for her to pick up another bag of cash.

Not saying they won't respond. Am saying that they didn't do what they said they would. Why should Xi Jinpeng or his minions be believed?
At this point, Xi's lost face with his own people. I suspect he's in deep shit politically right now. Time will tell.
