Nice post. Thanks....
I was quite disappointed there was no vapor trail behind me like in the tv ad on Lunch With Casey.
Ha David Naughton doing the Dr. Pepper commercial. Bill Murray made fun of that on SNL.
Watched WAAAAAAAYYYY too much TV as a kid born in 1962. I know more advertising jingles than any human being probably should!
Love this thread and thank you so much for posting it.
Vance Packard pointed out that the ads we thought were so stupid that we groaned, were done on purpose so that our conscious mind and defenses would relax and the subliminal messages would reach us.
The Indian is why I have compassion for youngsters who are propagandized toward “climate change”. The ad and the guy’s tear had a profound affect on my attitude toward pollution that I took seriously which, today, are just good, life-long habits. Of course, I’m speaking of self responsibility. Waiting for these young Gretas to start living off the grid.

My gosh, the first commercial was the Frito Bandito...and if you did a Hawaiian Punch, you might get shot..The White Owl was good...
I don’t know if any tv commercial will ever top Wendy’s Clara Peller and “Where’s the beef?”
That was good. Thanks.
Tom Waits Lyrics
“Step Right Up”
Step right up, step right up, step right up,
Everyone’s a winner, bargains galore
That’s right, you too can be the proud owner
Of the quality goes in before the name goes on
One-tenth of a dollar, one-tenth of a dollar, we got service after sales
You need perfume? we got perfume, how ‘bout an engagement ring?
Something for the little lady, something for the little lady,
Something for the little lady, hmm
Three for a dollar
We got a year-end clearance, we got a white sale
And a smoke-damaged furniture, you can drive it away today
Act now, act now, and receive as our gift, our gift to you
They come in all colors, one size fits all
No muss, no fuss, no spills, you’re tired of kitchen drudgery
Everything must go, going out of business, going out of business
Going out of business sale
Fifty percent off original retail price, skip the middle man
Don’t settle for less
How do we do it? how do we do it? volume, volume, turn up the volume
Now you’ve heard it advertised, don’t hesitate
Don’t be caught with your drawers down,
Don’t be caught with your drawers down
You can step right up, step right up

When I was stationed in England 1973-1976 they had some great commercials.
I loved Charlie the tuna.
All those white people, glad they purged TV commercials of that racism.
Sadly, Six Finger was not included.
But, Iron Eyes Cody was in there. Too bad he was not an American Indian. Must have voted democrat.
What a trip down memory lane.
The only commercial I don’t remember was the Budweiser one near the end.
The Green Giant is gay as hell.
It takes two hands to handle my Whopper !!
