A woman in New York died on Wednesday after her family's dog attacked her.
When the woman's husband arrived at the couple's home on Long Island at about 1 p.m., he discovered that his wife was dead after being attacked by the family's pit bull, according to FOX 5.
The pit bull was violent and went after police officers when they arrived, and they ended up killing the dog.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder described the scene as "horrific."

Well, at least things worked out:
The 7-year-old dog originally belonged to the family’s stepson, who died a few weeks ago in a motorcycle crash
Biker with a vicious pit bull. Shocking.
My niece owns a pit bull who is dominated by her 6 lb chihuahua. So funny.
One case proves nothing, I know but I’d take that dog back in a heartbeat.
Lovely story.
And, as another poster mentioned, just about EVERY shelter is full with pits.
Perhaps you could adopt several dozen.
I’ve seen them as gentle as a lamb and as vicious as a viper.
“Such pleasant little beasts.”
Mine is.
I’ve seen them as gentle as a lamb and as vicious as a viper.
“The dog was in mourning was trying to get his life together…”
Probably needed grief counsellors. Where was PETA in this sad time?

But diamonds won’t love you.
And Lia Thomas is female because he says so and the media goes along with it.
“We had a pit rescue picked up off the streets of NOLA. She was feral and we had her for ten years. I’ve had labs, goldens, Chesapeake bay retrievers, Shepards and mutts, the pit was the gentlest, smartest and most loyal of the bunch.
One case proves nothing, I know but I’d take that dog back in a heartbeat.”
All our dogs have been pit rescues. All have been great dogs. Bed hogs, one and all.
The most vicious dog I ever saw was a poodle. Nasty @#$%^& thing.
they ended up killing the dog.

I doubt the Pit would have ever lived outside a public shelter
of tax payer money.
The most vicious dog I ever saw was a poodle.
Did it kill its master, or, anyone?
How many maulings/killings have been attributed to poodles, poodle?
You mean…the shelters aren’t jam packed with them??
I work homeowner liability claims, the vast majority of which are dog bites. They aren’t all pit bulls, but 90% if the horrific ones are.
I’ve taken ten geriatric rescues over the years in addition to that pit who was 1-1/2 years old or so when we got her. Just for conversation sake, how many rescues have you taken on?
“Dog lost his master who was alpha...”
Right, that’s clearly what went wrong here. These are not suitable as pets, you’re right about that too. They can clearly kill an adult with ease. There are jobs for them to do in the this world, but being a pet isn’t really one of them.
“So funny.”
Until, you know, it’s tragic.
“Did it kill its master, or, anyone?”
I have no idea. I only saw it that one time.
