Mandy Gutierrez, principal of Robb Elementary School in Texas, was suspended with pay Monday, her attorney, Ricardo Cedillo, confirmed to ABC News.
A special legislative investigation into the May 24 massacre at the school found that Gutierrez was aware of security problems prior to a shooter accessing the school -- killing 19 students and two teachers -- but she had not had the problems fixed.
District officials declined to discuss the suspension or what it means.
Gutierrez joins school district police chief Pete Arredondo, still on unpaid administrative leave. The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has recommended Arredondo be fired.
The chief has been singled out for a series of catastrophic failures in leading the police response to the massacre that ignored the possibility that children and teachers could be saved had the teenage gunman been confronted and neutralized, as standard police protocol dictates.

"You care more about your damn selves than you do for our children," Cross told the board. "Why have y'all still not taken accountability for y'all's mess-ups? Can any one of y'all look me dead in the eyes and say, 'Look, we messed up?'"
Finally, board member Luis Fernandez confessed that "everybody messed up."

Oh, and rousting drunks. That’s the other thing small town police forces are good at.
School will be torn down....new school erected (fed funded). Some memorial will be placed on the site of the new school building. It’ll take forty years for locals to settle down or lessen the memory of what went wrong.
Take-away lesson...you can hire as many cops as you want and pay whatever scale you desire...but if you don’t have leadership to take charge, it’s wasted resources and manpower.
That’s because it isn’t a punishment. It’s supposed to be used while an investigation takes place and they’re assuming the individual will likely be cleared. But leftists couch it as a punishment; it’s just as effective as suspending thugging students who don’t want to be at school - free vacation.
Uvalde police = Cowardice
“It wasn’t a small town in LE terms.”
Interesting information on Uvalde in that post. Thanks!
It seemed like a lot of LE hanging around.
“It’s at the intersection of 2 highways that are major cartel drug and human trafficing routes.”
I’ll bet a whole lot of the locals are dirty. “Plata o plomo” works on both sides of the border. Way too much money involved for at least some of them not to be.
L
did anything hapen to the teacher who left the door opened?
His hire was 100% based on corrupt nepotism.
That’s how a 911 operator who never went to a police academy or wore a police uniform gets to be police chief of a school district.
Why do these schools even have their own PD? More corruption.
>His hire was 100% based on corrupt nepotism.
Like most small towns?
>That’s how a 911 operator who never went to a police academy or wore a police uniform gets to be police chief of a school district.
Again, like most small towns?
>Why do these schools even have their own PD? More corruption.
For the most part, yes. It allows the schools to cover up incidents that would be embarrassing to staff or admin. Others use it as security theater or as a status symbol. That said, there are actually functional school police departments - albeit they’re not the majority.
I gotta disagree with you here...
The cop who’s wife was bleeding out on the floor tried to go in...
He was detained, disarmed and escorted from the building..
Whoever issued THOSE orders was in charge.
Civil liability for sure. People need to do their damn jobs. I only wish politicians would be held accountable more often.
Nobody was in charge of saving the kids, which should have been their ONLY priority and mission.
Oh, I agree with you 100%!!!
The narrative says nobody was in charge..
Well, SOMEBODY was in charge enough to have an officer detained, disarmed and escorted from the building.
Who was this person, and why are they not being named?
Or, to put it another way, why is this person being protected?
Correct. The principal is not in charge of the PD response.
I’d be making a book and movie deal day 1.
Lockdowns were a common almost daily occurrence at Robb elementary.
To understand why this massacre happened, you have to understand that Biden‘s policies are a direct result of Uvalde being overrun with illegal immigrants. And when LEO‘s are in pursuit of yet another illegal, it’s common to place the local schools in lockdown. When this happens again and again, 50 times in just two months, it’s like the little boy crying crying wolf.
It’s not fair to blame any teachers or even this principal for things which happened far beyond their control.
This was a perfect example of piss poor polidiots in charge of law enforcement with piss poor risk managers who worry more about lawsuits than innocent lives. .......
Heel toe to the sound of gunfire ......pie the corners , eliminate the threat with violence of action. Repeat as necessary ........
My opinion ....
And first and foremost, be willing to take a bullet to prevent a child or teacher from taking it.
If not, remove the badge.
Bingo ......
