I've had enough, I'm retiring. (Not contributing my hard earned tax dollars to this Biden bullsh** anymore.)

I’m not totally heartless my wife and 6 year old son are gibbedats.

We can try to change people, who won’t change.

However, I’m a sucker for lovešŸ˜€.

The two gibbedats love me, I’m a sucker.....oh well.

I assume you have a 401K and/or IRAs. Trust me, the Government will hit you up for plenty when you start drawing those down.

Best of luck!

My wifeā€™s last day is tomorrow. Officially, August 31, because she is using her vacation till then.

Good call. Taking a lump sum of the vacation causes a big hit in taxes and immediate abandonment of the other benefits that come with employment. Taking the PTO, you collect the money and have the benefit coverage right to the end.

And what do you think you will be doing after you stop working? Paying taxes to Biden on your retirement and investment income. Your rant is amusing, but pointless.

You assume I'm staying in the United States. Your post isn't even amusing and it's pointless.

Bravo! But stay in shape. You may be called upon again. We all may be regardless of our age.

“We struggle every day to find employees, itā€™s a difficult task because nobody wants to grow up to being over the road truck”

Nobody in America wants to work.

They want an inflated salary for adding zero value to their community.

Actually, globalism ran out of slaves 10 or 15 years ago, the global economy doesn’t have enough worker bee/ants to keep the material wealth going.

Tough times are coming, just like they did in the past.

“I donā€™t have to work and donā€™t want to.”

ditto ... i just stretched the time frame of not having to work to not wanting to by about 20 years ... retired around 2000 but still enjoyed doing IT consulting even though i didn’t really need the money, so did that for 22 more years, but now i don’t enjoy that that much any more, so am shedding clients and scaling way back ...

I’m getting out easy. Medical bills nearly wiped us out; we were perpetually broke. It took over a decade to recover.

I started earning serious money about four years ago, when I could work full time and my kids were all middle school age. This year, I’ll be pulling in about $130K on my own. With my husband’s salary, we are banking about $8K a month while putting kids through college and enjoying life.

The good news is I don’t have to save for retirement. COVID savaged my lungs and I have about 10 years left to live. I have at least 5 more where I can be productive at this level and keep raking it in..

Thankfully, I have $750K in life insurance, long term policies, so my family will be okay when I’m gone.

I’m going to die young and make a good looking corpse. My husband is young enough, smart enough, and handsome enough that he won’t be alone for long.

I have lived an amazing life, seen and done some incredible things, have loved and been loved by a wonderful husband, and have 3 smart, funny, and honorable kids.

All is well with my soul.

CHAPTER I
THE THEME

.

"Who is John Gait?"

The light was ebbing, and Eddie Willers could not
distinguish the bum's face. The bum had said it simply,
without expression. But from the sunset far at the end
of the street, yellow glints caught his eyes, and the
eyes looked straight at Eddie Willers, mocking and stillā€”
as if the question had been addressed to the causeless
uneasiness within him.

"Why did you say that?" asked Eddie Willers, his voice tense.

The bum leaned against the side of the doorway; a wedge of
broken glass behind him reflected the metal yellow of the sky.

"Why does it bother you?" he asked.

"It doesn't," snapped Eddie Willers.

I manage a few DMR repeaters and a few GMRS repeaters.

All have Internet access, local PC's and full installs of the management software for those repeaters, behind firewalls. I can manage them all, upload new config's to the repeaters, reboot them and have them back on air with their new configs in minutes.

I'm a General Class Ham and honestly, my favorite of late is GMRS. We have a VERY active local community, far surpassing anything on DMR and 2m/70cm repeaters.

We're also investing heavily in solar and battery backup via solar charging so we can be off-grid for up to a week in the event of power disruption (which has happened in the more rural parts of HELLINOIS.)

“I love working. And what do you think you will be doing after you stop working?”

If you love working, then you’re ones of the few lucky ones.

Most of us have better lives after we stop working, doing what we want to do instead of what we have to do.

I prefer to work and direct the surplus net pay to many causes worth supporting.

401k's, IRA's and two pension accounts. My financial planner is quite adept at minimizing taxable income. In fact, one of the reasons I'm retiring now is to minimize the amount I'll have to pay for Medicare when I become eligle and to maximize my SS payout when I do retire. I'm at the max now. I'm not doing anything to impact that going into retirement.

Remember: income taxes are based on INCOME. For the next 6 years, I'll have ZERO income. I'll be living off of savings. Zero income = ZERO TAXES.

I've planned for that. One of my favorites is Feed My Starving Children and I spent a lot of time volunteering for them. I'll be doing more in retirement. :-)

Who knows what treatments/options may become available in the next 5 - 10 years, for your lung issues?

Never say never ;-)

How is leaving the USA going to stop you from paying taxes on your 401K and IRA? Is that what your financial adviser told you? LOL

Congratulations on your retirement. I am just a few years behind you. When the last of us Baby Boomers retire, the rest of the workforce is going to really miss us. In fact they already are. Over the past 10 years, an immense amount of talent has already left the workforce and I’m definitely feeling the effects in my company.

Working till end of August also puts her at 25 years, which pays a little more.

I applaud you. I’m on the verge too but unlike you I despise the GD company I’ve wasted the last 20 years at. Literally despise every scumbag in management and can’t wait to get out.
