Several years ago there was a “game” some of the ferals played: They called it bowling. Yup, you guessed it: The object was to knock down “white pins” with a car. I don’t know if the perps rifled through the victims’ pockets afterwards, but it would not surprise me.
I recently read some commie rag saying NY, Boston and Washington were among the ten safest cities in the country. Thought I was reading old time Mad Magazine.

About 25 years ago I was living in Houston and working in an industrial part of town. One of the guys I worked with had just had a baby and his wife was going back to work so she was going to take the car and he was going to ride his bike to work. On the very first day he never showed up. His wife found him at the morgue that night, because the people who had run him down took his wallet and identification.

Probably a crime of opportunity. A friend was driving in the LA area when an earthquake hit. He puled over at a bus stop. A store window across the sidewalk broke from the earthquake, and before the shaking stopped, several folks standing at the bus stop went over and took stuff from the store window- crime of opportunity.
In this case, why not rob him? He’s down, right? What use is his wallet and cash now?

Don’t know where it was but a young woman was on a long staircase in a busy public building and video showed a creepy man deliberately push her hard to knock her down a long way on the steps. Then another man came up, looked furtively around and stole her cell phone from the floor before she was pushed and ran away with it.
Maybe I should put “man” in quotes.
I looked up how many tourists go to NYC in a year and they happened to show 2019 as last statistic:
