Trump or DeSantis: Who Is the Man for the Times?
American Thinker ^ | 21 Jul, 2022 | Dex Bahr

Is it time to move on from Trump? Or is DeSantis in need of more seasoning?

Elon Musk recently declaring that we need to move on from President Donald Trump is the latest example of chatter I have noticed lately on the news and conservative blogs about why we need to do an about-face to Governor Ron DeSantis as our presidential nominee in 2024.

The question is whether this conversation is from the people or manufactured by Deep State operatives.

As of the writing of this piece, Trump has not officially declared whether he's even going to seek the nomination in 2024, but you wouldn't know that from all the hand-wringing. So, for now this is just a hypothetical comparison.

First, I am a big Governor DeSantis fan. He is showing what strong state leadership looks like and how it is possible to constitutionally resist a tyrannical federal government. DeSantis has been a profile in courage, toughness, sensibility, and even love as he stands for the citizens of Florida. He is the living embodiment of a patriotic executive.

Governor DeSantis has what it takes to be president and would likely be an effective leader of the free world...but not in 2024. DeSantis needs to stay in Florida for now, build on the gains he has made for that state, and instill the habit in the minds of Floridians of what normal governance looks like. This, so they don't screw up and elect another politician in the vein of Charlie Christ or Andrew Gillum (Florida really dodged a bullet with that clown).

I really don’t want to see a Trump-Desantis fight.

Anti-Trumper’s doing there best to divide and conquer about as well as the Leftist DEMs..... /s

If Trump and DeSantis were even remotely smart, the 2024 ticket would be Trump-DeSantis.

I agree. It has to be Trump for as long as he wants to be in politics.

We won’t see another populist character like this for another century.

And DeSantis will have my vote if he’s ever the presidential nominee, but I will have no excitement for him and would give him no more than six months before he’s given the moniker “George W. DeSantis” here on FR. The last thing this country needs in the White House is another Ivy League lawyer who has never worked outside government.

The ONLY thing DJT has said on this topic for sure was back on 1/20/21:

"We will be back in some form".

And, Don Jr et-al on 1/18/21:

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

You are so right. The left & the anti trumps are trying to cause discord to drive voters from Trump and towards to someone much easier for them to defeat. They are desperate. I am so tired of these postings. They are just giving free boosts to the enemy and fomenting discord.

FWIW Robert Barnes yesterday said they have struck a deal for a Trump/DeSantis 2024 ticket. Their both appearing at a TP event this weekend will be repeated at other events.

Trump is likely to announce this fall, but the alliance may not be formally announced for some time, in part because the DS is too afraid of Ron to possibly indict for elimination from running Don. Announcing sooner rather than later may make a meaningful indictment of Don less likely, though he may still get hit in GA.

He says their informal partnership includes Don having more of the international portfolio and Ron the domestic one within their administration.

Of course, they need to officially be from separate states to run together, so my guess is that Don may move his again, say to NJ with a Bedminster residence, for that purpose.

Barnes is an attorney who has been in direct communication with Trump, including doing some work at least informally for him, for some time. There is no way that he would have gone rogue in discussing this publicly.

Here is his interview with AJ:

No reason to rush Desantis. He has plenty of years in him. If Trump wants it, let him have 4 years. Meanwhile, Desantis can continue to be an example of strong governorship.

As my tagline says, I'm hoping to see DeSantis in the race.

I voted for Trump twice and he remains the only political candidate that I ever donated money to but Trump's time has passed. He's simply too old now and his last year in office was a disaster.

At thirty years younger, DeSantis encompasses the things that Trump made great while being burdened with virtually none of his negatives. Ron DeSantis is a vast improvement over Donald Trump in every measure.

If the primary fight is between Trump and DeSantis, I will enthusiastically support Ron DeSantis. If it is a fight between Trump and a bunch of RINOs, I will support Trump (though not with the enthusiasm I did before).

If Trump earns the nomination, I will vote for him without question. But he has to earn it.

The article, which I should have read before posting, says the same thing!

We should weather whatever they throw at this man. Let's not repeat the RINO tactics of throwing someone overboard the moment the media decide they hate our candidate. Remember: the Uniparty does not care about you or the country — only its own enrichment and power. These people want Trump out because they fear him. They fear him because he has the people behind him. As Trump has said, the swamp really fears you and me as informed, patriotic Americans.

I don't think Governor DeSantis is falling for the recent adulation, nor should you. I believe he sees this as a ploy to split and weaken MAGA.

It's being fomented by the media . . . you won't.

They are both where they should be and know the times we live in . . . they're smart warriors . . . as WE should now be.

AJ’s recent comment on the hideous faces of Biden’s appointments struck me as valid. They are Jokers: absurd faces covering villainous intent and actions.
