Maryland’s Larry Hogan is a conservative non-MAGA Republican governor in a blue state who has received a lot of Democratic votes — especially in the 2018 midterms, when he ran for reelection and defeated Democratic nominee Ben Jealous by 12 percent. 2018 was generally a good year for Democrats, who enjoyed a major blue wave in the U.S. House of Representatives that year. Yet Republican Hogan enjoyed a double-digit reelection victory in a blue state.
Because Maryland has gubernatorial term limits, Hogan cannot seek a third term — and in Maryland’s 2022 Republican gubernatorial primary, he endorsed former Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz. But former President Donald Trump endorsed Schulz’s far-right, ultra-MAGA primary opponent Dan Cox, who defeated Schulz when the primary election was held on Tuesday, July 19.
Never Trump conservative Jim Swift, in an article published by The Bulwark on July 20, argues that Maryland Republicans have screwed up badly by nominating an extremist “kook" over the more moderate, Hogan-endorsed Schulz.

Larry Hogan ain’t no conservative. He is pure RINO. So this Alex Somebody got off on the wrong foot from the first step. Probably working for the dims to fear-monger.
Electing assistant democrats isn’t helping.
That sounds like the grumblings and the mumblings of a Concern Troll. Press Record—Store—then Ignore.
Hogan isn’t a ‘non-MAGA’; he’s been virulently ANTI-Trump.
I appreciated in the beginning that we actually elected a Republican; but in general, I was really disappointed in him.
Larry Hogan is as “’conservative” as Bernie Sanders.
Always interesting how democrats like to tell us who the conservatives are
So what good did two terms of Hogan do for anybody? How did he advance the conservative cause even in Maryland?
Better to lose with the right candidate than to win with the wrong one. The stench of their policies get deeply entrenched and everyone gets to point to them as examples of how “conservatives” should act. Hard pass. Even if it takes years before people choose the alternative they should always have a true alternative for which to vote.
If Hogan had a vote on Trump’s judges, and therefore was a factor in Roe vs. Wade, I might be tempted (actually would be tempted) to DEFEND him, as I do with Romney and Collins...knowing that a Democrat replacement would have PREVENTED Roe from being overturned.
But Hogan is USELESS to conservatives at the national level...so he can stuff it.
Don’t worry about it Alex. We have fallen for that crap too many times.
New Frontiers in RINOism.
Whatever else Hogan may be he is not now nor has he ever been a conservative. There is question as to whether he is a republican too
Alex probably is a Democrat himself.

Hogan is the quintessential “go along to get along” RINO. No conservative principles whatsoever. Cox on the other hand is a man of principle who has vowed to combat the leftist rot that has plagued Maryland’s citizens for many decades.
when an article uses the word “moderate” more than a few times, you know the article is complete OBAMA..
Whenever I wake up in a bad mood, I remind myself ‘john mcain’s STILL dead’ and instantly feel better.

That’s a damn good strategy to brighten your day right out of the gate! I’m going to begin doing likewise tomorrow morning!
.
You don’t lose anything by losing a Hogan.
There’s virtually no difference between Hogan and the MD Dems.
What, they speak to Donors differently?

I don’t think he’s got any chance at the White House GOP nomination, but a Senate seat couldn’t possibly hurt. And it’s a backup plan if he wants to stay in politics.
