MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy has undergone a second surgery to help repair a broken hip, his office said Wednesday.
Leahy, 82, fell and broke his hip last month in his Virginia home. He underwent hip-replacement surgery June 30 at a Washington-area hospital. He was then moved to a rehabilitation center.
On Wednesday, Leahy’s office said his surgeons found it necessary to perform an additional operation on the hip “to help advance his recovery.”
Leahy was back in his rehabilitation room by Tuesday evening. He is working with physical therapists “to return home as soon as possible.”

Remember...Senators have to present in Chambers for any vote.
Another one of our infamous geriatric leaders. Can we get someone under 70?
Most people his age do not recover completely from a broken hip.
We should not have octogenarians in Congress.
Wonder if he’s really in for a busted hip...
Sounds like he’s done , time to retire
GEEBUS how long has this guy been in office?
A bad person who has done a lot of damage to the country and our freedom.
I was reading someone that said when you are older you can bend over to pick strawberries and break your hip just from bending over. That terrifies me
I wish him a good recovery and a long, healthy retirement.
some deck chairs were closer to the life boats
yes my dads hip broke then he fell he heard it
Me, too. I have seen so many people go this way...broken hip, and then nursing home and then funeral parlor.
Sen. Leaky is still around? I thought he died.
If he was a horse or a mule (he’d have to gain a few IQ points and a will to keep secrets), they’d put him down.
I had a broken hip 2.5 years ago at 67. Still recovering. Leahy is toast.
He had a hip replaced?!?
Gee, I suppose he (and other Senators) will be riding around on those 2 mph electric carts you see in supermarkets, oh maybe, just maybe, he will ride in a much faster Dalek mover.
