Biden says he 'strongly supports' bill that will codify the right to contraception that Congress will vote on this week and again warns Roe v. Wade will have 'far-reaching consequences on women's health'

President Joe Biden on Monday said he 'strongly support's a House bill that would codify the right to contraception.

The Biden administration put out a statement of support for the Right to Contraception Act, which the House will vote on this week as part of a slew of legislation Democrats are passing to protect reproductive rights.

In the statement, Biden again warned the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade would have 'far-reaching consequences' on women's health.

'The Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs, which overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated a constitutional right to choose, has already had devastating implications for women's health and public health,' the administration said in a statement.

The Right to Contraception Act allows people to obtain and use contraceptives, and protects healthcare providers' ability to provide contraceptives and relevant information to patients.

The goal is to protect all contraceptives approved by the Food and Drug Administration, including oral and emergency contraceptives, intrauterine devices and condoms.

Manufactures have to put labels on everything to keep Californians from eating it. I guess this is just a logical extension of some sort.

Contraception

the deliberate use of artificial methods or other techniques to ***prevent pregnancy*** as a consequence of sexual intercourse. The major forms of artificial contraception are barrier methods, of which the most common is the condom; the contraceptive pill, which contains synthetic sex hormones that prevent ovulation in the female; intrauterine devices, such as the coil, which prevent the fertilized ovum from implanting in the uterus; and male or female sterilization.
“one of the most important methods of contraception”

Gotta prevent babies, and if we have them, we gotta kill them.

That’s the Democratic vision in a nutshell.

If the right didn’t exist, I think they’d use their license exterminate the entire human race altogether.

What state has banned contraceptives? None that I’ve heard of.

No where in the Constitution mentions the Federal Authority to control Abortions.

If it is not expressly given to the Congress, the authority to control belongs to the State or the People.

There is no such thing as a “right” that someone else must be forced to provide.

You would be wrong, go back and read the brief again. It doesn’t say the feds cannot codify at the national level at all. It says that the way the court previously ruled that they found a right to abortion in the federal codes is wrong thus for now returning it to the states. The Fed’s can very much codify into USC code a 15 week or 21 week federally supreme USC code. The 14th amendment would support it since a number of states have 15 wk laws already. The general welfare clause for sure would, and also the equal protection clause, if a woman crosses state lines then the commerce clause absolutely applies.

I would love to see some legal briefs showing the Fed’s cannot codify RvW hint you won’t find any. They chose not to code it for political reasons now they have too get two rouge dems back in the fold to override the filibuster. Packing the court will be next if they bust the filibuster there are 13 fed court districts there were 9 before and that’s the only reason for 9 USSC people it’s an easy sell to show the reason for 9 was 9 districts and the reason for 13 is there are now 13 districts very easy sell. There will no red wave the dems count the votes and Stalin was right it doesn’t matter who votes it’s who counts them nothing has changed since 2020 they win again in Nov helped with real new votes from angry college girls and dirty30s age party girls. Texas will be purple at best.

This will be no different than abortion. The states have the rights here not the federal govt.

What about Griswold V. Connecticut?

As Justice Clarence Thomas noted, in the light of Roe, it may be time for SCOTUS to revisit Griswold as it was based on the same false premises that led to Roe.

That would be a mistake to end it.

If it was a bad (un-Constitutional) ruling, as was the original Roe, it would be a mistake to not end it. .

The same reasoning could be used about the recently overturned Roe. Cases before the SCOTUS court are supposed to be ruled on their Constitutional merits, not upon political expediency.

Contraception is not a right.   It therefore must not be protected by the our Federal Government.
