Vanity-Party Line Ballots Are The Answer To the 17th Amendment

Posted on 07/17/2022 8:57:27 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Just my opinion. Let the state parties recommendation be put on a separate ballot. Straight line party voting would definitely be quicker, eliminating long lines. Helps eliminate overnight counting. They would also be more accurate. Anyone that disagrees can stand in the booth for as long as it takes-another problem. Unprepared/uninformed voters. We're divided ok? Next 2-3 election cycles wouldn't hurt.

Any party 'elders' who are out of step with the electorate will be exposed. I remember "The Chronicle Recommends(SF)". I'd rip the page, take it into the voting booth and vote the opposite. I was accurate 90% of the time.

We gotta be proactive on this. We’re constantly ‘reacting’ to what the rats do. They call the shots. That’s why Trump is so popular.

Straight party-line voting is like the filibuster - advantages can work either way, depending on who is the majority. It would actually more than anything esle help seal encumbant majorities.

If “party loyalty” is what you want, go to China.

I’d like to think we’re more independent than the ‘’voters’ in China. Choosing a regular ballot too much work? The party elders just might learn how school boards feel these days.

Maybe 40 or 50 years ago a Republican activist staged a sit-in at the polls to protest the use of party line voting on the grounds of confidentiality. I forget her name but she claimed that a short visit in the voting booth signaled yo others that the voter voted a straight party line.

I believe that’s now illegal in Connecticut

1994. Would the rats all vote party line knowing what BJ was up to? 2010-The voters would not have thrown out the Kenyan so they took it out on his lieutenants.

“The party elders just might learn how school boards feel these days.”

Only if voters did not have the option of picking a “party line” ballot and made their individual choices based on candidates merits, irreespective of “party” - chosing as they see fit some from their party (maybe most) and some not from their party.

Voters do not need special ballots, polls should open early and stay open late. They don’t need “party line” ballots.

Takes me all of ten seconds to check every R box on the ballot.

I got ya by 9. It would be a message to those in line who can’t make up their mind.
Those 9 seconds multiplied by hundreds-it adds up.

Remember “The campaign continues”(2000)? It was 4am in the morning. Couldn’t believe a thousand or so had so muck at stake regarding Al Gore. “They’re still counting votes”. Podesta-2016. What an idiot. Don’t give them any openings. Get in and out-there’s a more seriousness to it.

no. there is always one or two schmucks to ruin that.
Besides, that is lazy voting. You vote ‘party’, and do not scrutinize the candidates.

Indeed. I'd prefer to outlaw straight party voting. Make them vote each individual race separately.

You could have just 2 candidates on the ballot. California has 2 democrats for many offices. Primaries make it that way-clears the field. Still you gotta get in and out of the polling centers so that everyone can vote. So what if the party line ballot leaves others out. The unfavored candidates can blame themselves.
