That’s a stunning discovery.
Obviously Van Gogh...striking...wow.
Before he fought Mike Tyson obviously.
Mybe it is not a self-portrait...
Could be that Amelia painted it while she was visiting him...
Meaning, obviously by Van Gogh.
But it also does look as if it may be self-portrait...very intense.
WHO? Maybe it was Doctored.
Now, that’s cool!!

😀
Because that peasant woman looks rather manly to me. 😋
at that point he wasn’t too good with drawing- he really struggled with proportions and such early on, so she might not have been that manly looking- it looks like the painting underneath mighta had proportion issues too-

The self-portrait looks pretty good though. 🙂
Adam’s apple.............................
Canvas ain’t cheap unless you’re selling some paintings, and I don’t think his paintings sold very well in his lifetime.
lol- might wanna get that checked out
i had a huge book on van gogh years ago with all his works and his writings in them- he wrote a lot- was very interesting, and i could see a steady progression in his drawing skills the older he got and the more he practiced. the self portrait is pretty good, but the chin and mouth and nose areas look off to me- like maybe he struggled with it and gave up- but it’s hard to tell- i tried enhancing the photo contrast wise to see if it woudl stand out more to see if i could see more features or brushstrokes, but didn’t help much- it mighta been fine- but just to me looks off a bit, like mouth is too close to nose, and nose not quite positioned right- (i used to paint portraits, so am familiar with trouble gettign proportions to look right in facial features- it’s harder than it looks lol- the angles have to be really close to perfect, otherwise our eye picks up on ‘something that doesn’t seem right”
