Won’t be an issue until we start seeing the colored charts of deaths over regular deaths along an annual time line.

In this case you very much can and would get it from a toilet seat the viral load is highest in the bathroom. This virus doesn’t need a mucus membrane to cross the dermal layer it is fully capable of infecting perfectly healthy skin just like a herpes virus or a HPV virus any of those can spread skin to skin or surface to skin contact. It’s just the way it works sometimes. No tinfoil quackery meeded.

https://www.thehealthsite.com/news/monkeypox-transmission-high-viral-loads-found-on-the-surfaces-touched-by-monkeypox-patients-893092/amp/

This is the actual hard science behind it with all the viral loading and data for those with the intellectual ability to comprehend it.

“Monkey Pox” talk/risk, for the vast majority of people, is ‘fear porn’.

It will likely come out that it was Trump’s fault all along.

It’s worth keeping an eye on it.

It sounds like we’re all at low risk since we aren’t having gay sex or having any skin contact with gays.

But that chart is going exponential. And early claimes about covid not being contagious were clearly wrong.

How,long does mp last on surfaces outside the body though? .ike, with herpes, it doesn’t last very long apparently on hard surfaces, but on soft surfaces like towels, I guess it lasts a bit longer.

"The o ly real reason for the explosion in cases was gay pride month and gay pride events around the world"

Probably true, but it still bears watching. The more human cases, the more likely it mutates into something more easily transmitted.

It's kin to small pox right? It's not like the Indians were all gays. So be wary of used blankets.

I would say give them to good will, that’s what the colonists did. But that would be so wrong.

The one variable missiing in all the data is

Monkeypox by sex and age.

Maybe they didn’t want the truth in that demographic to create a narrative they wanted to avoid. THAT is not totally honest data reporting.

Smallpox didn't mutate that much, right?

"Smallpox didn't mutate that much, right?"

That's true Smallpox was a DNA virus as opposed to RNA viruses like Coronavirus. DNA viruses are much less prone to mutations.

Monkeypox is a DNA virus.

Also, Smallpox didn't have an animal reservoir. It only infected people making it much easier to wipe out.

"Monkeypox virus can infect a wide range of mammal species, including monkeys, anteaters, hedgehogs, prairie dogs, squirrels, and shrews.

"We are still learning which species of animals can get monkeypox. While we do not know if reptiles, amphibians, or birds can get monkeypox, it is unlikely since these animals have not been found to be infected with other orthopoxviruses.

"Monkeypox could establish new reservoirs in animals Concern grows that virus will get footholds in species outside Africa.

Re: 22 - Oh please, stop the histrionics.

The study you cite was done in a health facility setting with patients with active monkeypox infections. That is not the setting that most people perform daily activities. You’re taking a highly particularized study and trying to force its findings to apply in settings where study parameters would be vastly different.

And the study authors were direct in qualifying their research:

“Those living in the same households of affected individuals should be advised that, in addition to avoiding close physical contact, disinfection of shared skin- and hand-contact surfaces might be useful to prevent transmission. At the present time, the viral load on inanimate surfaces required for disease transmission is unknown.”
