Tiger Woods has reiterated his opposition to the Saudi-backed breakaway fronted by Greg Norman and questioned if its younger recruits will ever be able to compete in majors.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the 150th Open Championship, Woods said he supported the R&A’s decision not to invite Norman, a two-time winner, to the Champions’ Dinner at St Andrews due to his role as CEO of LIV Golf.
And the 15-time major winner said he could not understand why the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka had “turned their backs” on the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf’s series of 48-man, 54-hole events.

You never caught The Golden Bear, tigertigertiger.
Maybe it’s time for an anti-trust suit against the PGA.
Don’t care much about the PGA but do enjoy watching monolithic entities scrambling to find a way to deal with new competition.
Jack, Tiger and many other pros live near Palm Beach Gardens. They are old fashioned golf loyalists. The PGA world Headquarters were in PBG until recently when Texas offered a free, fancy new building/campus and courses. PGA took the money and ran! PGA is going to lose this battle.
The PGA has the woke cancer. It’s stage two but growing.
The PGA Tour is based in Jax (Ponte Vedra Beach). PGA of America is still (sort of) based in Palm Beach Gardens.
Two different entities, both in need of some humbling imo.
Apparently, sports doesn’t want competition. How ironic ...
I've lost interest in most "sports".
Huh? The PGA isn't the USA. It is a massively profitable corporation that got caught underpaying golfers, and now is having to play catch up since LIV has opened its checkbooks. Morever, no one should whine about "Khashoggi!" because he was an absolute scumbag who got what he deserved.
I disgree with Tiger drunk driving into trees.
You are correct. I was a little ahead of myself, although I think the Texas move in very, very soon:
The headquarters is part of the 660-acre, $520 million mixed-use campus that will include many attractions for the general public. A 500-room Omni PGA Frisco Resort, golf-themed restaurants and retail stores are scheduled to be completed by spring 2023
Yep. Even after his wife split w the kids, he’s worth 500 million.
I'm down to one: college hoops, specifically Gonzaga basketball (I'm an alum). The landscape in college sports is in turmoil, who knows what's going to happen.
I know quite a few PGA of America employees who refuse to move to Texas and simply tele-commute. The building at PGA National is still occupied for the most part.
I’ve known Seth Waugh for a long time, and he wouldn’t have been my choice to lead the PGA of America. I’ll leave it at that.
I thought competition was good?
Let the PGA compete for talent and see a bigger set of tournaments and more players competing...good good good
Golf is the only sport I watch now. I don't know how this schism will play out.
All Time PGA Tour Wins
Sam Snead 82 wins......7 majors
Tiger Woods 82 wins.....15 majors
Jack Nicklaus 73 wins.....18 majors
Without the injuries and subsequent surgeries he suffered at the height of his career, there is no question that would have surpassed Nicklaus's 18 majors.
Another factor to consider is that Woods has only played in 86 Major events compared to Nicklaus's 164, thus giving Woods a much higher winning percentage.
With five back surgeries and 5 knee surgeries, it's a miracle he's still playing.
To paraphrase Beth from Yellowstone, “college sports is the trailer park,NIL is the tornado”
1. Funded by evil Saudis... but Saudis are not uniquely evil and the PGA does business with Saudis, China, etc.
2. It's just about the money... but PGA has just responded to LIV by jacking up the money. If it wasn't just about the money then they should have wheeled out Old Ben Crenshaw to wax poetic about the glorious history of the game of golf.
3. It splits up the competition... but this has happened in football, boxing, MMA, etc. and those sports are still going concerns.
