Maybe it’s time for an anti-trust suit against the PGA.

Don’t care much about the PGA but do enjoy watching monolithic entities scrambling to find a way to deal with new competition.

Apparently, sports doesn’t want competition. How ironic ...

“turned their backs” on the PGA Tour

Huh? The PGA isn't the USA. It is a massively profitable corporation that got caught underpaying golfers, and now is having to play catch up since LIV has opened its checkbooks. Morever, no one should whine about "Khashoggi!" because he was an absolute scumbag who got what he deserved.

I thought competition was good?

Let the PGA compete for talent and see a bigger set of tournaments and more players competing...good good good

You never caught The Golden Bear, tigertigertiger.

All Time PGA Tour Wins

Sam Snead 82 wins......7 majors

Tiger Woods 82 wins.....15 majors

Jack Nicklaus 73 wins.....18 majors

Without the injuries and subsequent surgeries he suffered at the height of his career, there is no question that would have surpassed Nicklaus's 18 majors.

Another factor to consider is that Woods has only played in 86 Major events compared to Nicklaus's 164, thus giving Woods a much higher winning percentage.

With five back surgeries and 5 knee surgeries, it's a miracle he's still playing.

Three hypocritical reasons to hate on LIV:

1. Funded by evil Saudis... but Saudis are not uniquely evil and the PGA does business with Saudis, China, etc.

2. It's just about the money... but PGA has just responded to LIV by jacking up the money. If it wasn't just about the money then they should have wheeled out Old Ben Crenshaw to wax poetic about the glorious history of the game of golf.

3. It splits up the competition... but this has happened in football, boxing, MMA, etc. and those sports are still going concerns.

Does the new league play by the same rules of golf?

I get they stole some of the stars and it will impact TV ratings and advertiser money, but the US and British Opens are open to all players that can make the cut including non-affiliated amateurs.

“Wealthy bootie-hound weighs in.”

Total B.S. and mischaracterizing a golf class act.

The Saudis offered Tiger $1 billion to join LIV, and he turned them down.

All the major players who joined LIV have mostly not been winning of late, and when you don’t win in the PGA you don’t earn as much. The PGA is all about competition.

Those who joined LIV are being paid millions by the Saudis, each time, just to show up for a LIV event, no matter how they score.

The Saduis paid Michelson $200 million just to join and they paid Dustin Johnson nearly as much, and both got more just for joining LIV than Tiger has earned in PGA earnings in his lifetime.

Michelson needs the milions to pay off his Vegas gambling debts.

LIV is 100% about (a) the money, the money, the money, not golf and (b) the Saudis trying to purchase global respectability.

Neither Tiger or the PGA can throw away billions on a bunch of currently losing golfers, but the Saudis can.

And the 15-time major winner said he could not understand why the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka had “turned their backs” on the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf’s series of 48-man, 54-hole events.

Cha-ching. What's not to understand?

The PGA Tour: A Not-For-Profit Money Machine

Article is from 2013.

Many don’t realize that the PGA is tax exempt. The amount of money that goes through the tour is staggering.

“Still, many have criticized the tour’s byzantine recordkeeping. “I’ve been asking for an independent audit for years to make sure there is full financial transparency, and it has never been done,” says Greg Norman, who through his business is still affiliated with the tour, running three tour events.”
