The result of that kind of ‘curriculum’ is that students’ education leap frogs the fundamental, cultural sub-structure of their civilization. They will have an enormous blind spot where their understanding should have a basis in their culture.

I once took a group of foreign students to lunch after class. While driving, I asked one of them what they thought of the USA. We were at a stop light. He pointed to the stop light and said that he liked that I actually stopped because it was red.

That always stuck with me. Says a lot.
