Had a long day today and am exhausted and relaxing with a nice cold beer(s) watching some Rifleman espisodes. Man, this was the good ole days when TV was good. Now, it's garbage on TV.
What are your favorite old time TV shows?
The mantis did more preying than praying.
Man, lots of them.
Growing up in an abusive, dysfunctional home, I turned towards watching LOTS of TV as a way to provide myself with escape and comfort from my misery. Nothing gave me greater joy than watching my favorite cartoons, tv shows, and movies.
My favorite old tv shows in no particular order (some of these tv shows i didnt watch in my childhood, but started watching in my adulthood):
The Brady Bunch
Leave it to beaver
The adventures of Ozzie and Harriet
The Munsters
Gilligan’s island
The jack benny show
The carol Burnett show
The little rascals (technically not a tv show, but a series of short movies)
The twilight zone
One step beyond
Racket Squad
The jackie gleason show
The Millionaire
Alfred Hitchcock presents
Green acres
Car 54, where are you
Petticoat Junction
The Andy Griffith show
Get smart
The naked city
F-troop
Bewitched
I dream of Jeannie
Family Affair
That girl
Gomer Pyle, usmc
Make room for daddy
Dukes of hazzard
The real McCoy’s
Gidget
Used to watch the “ghost and mrs muir” in daily syndicated reruns as a kid in the 1970s. Then they removed it from the airwaves, never to be seen again. As a result, I dont remember the episodes the way I have memorized the episodes of other classic tv shows. But the opening theme of ghost and mrs. muir has remained in my memory all these years.
Fast forward a few decades. I’m doing some aimless surfing on youtube when i run across full episodes of this show posted there. I begin to watch one and the instant the opening theme played, i was flooded and overwhelmed with fond, nostalgic memories of myself as a kid, sitting in front of the living room, 25 inch color tv (the only tv we had in our place, unlike today where its now the norm to have a tv in almost every room), watching my favorite classic tv shows, movies and cartoons.

When my family returned to The States after 6 years in GITMO, my mom and dad wanted a date out without me and my brother (ages 13 and 10). They left us at the motel and we watched American TV for the first time in years. All we got in GITMO was Bonanza once a week and Felix The Cat every day.
When they got back, they asked what was on the TV. We told them it was something called The Addam’s Family. When they asked what it was like, we couldn’t begin to describe it.
Thanks for replying. It’s always good to hear from a fellow fan. My last 2 dogs were Londo and Adira. My 2 current ones are G’Kar and Na’Toth. Trust me...they embody their characters well. Flat out the best of its era. The stories trample much of present day television. There’s (gasp, no!!!!!) talk of a re-boot.
Thanks for setting me strait on channel 11 not 9 for the Yule log. My house did not have a fireplace, just an oil furnace with little to watch, so it was great to have the crackling fire on the tv.

Wonderful!
