Had a long day today and am exhausted and relaxing with a nice cold beer(s) watching some Rifleman espisodes. Man, this was the good ole days when TV was good. Now, it's garbage on TV.
What are your favorite old time TV shows?
The Burns and Allen radio show is available free and is extremely funny.
Emergency from the 70’s, on FETV.
I will assume you lived near Hartford or the east side of the state. We never had an issue getting channel 9 living near Waterbury. I loved the chop-socky theater on Saturdays, Mets games with my grandpa, and the pro wrestling with the hulk, piper, andre the giant, savage and flair. Oh, and the Yule log for Christmas.
I love Mannix, Cannon, and Barnaby Jones. I wish MeTV would show them at a more convenient time.
Leave it to Beaver is a national treasure. Attractive, well adjusted parents who try to instill morality and good judgement to their sons whilst hilarity ensues. Wholesome and funny as heck all these years later.
“...well adjusted parents...”
Agree completely with your assessment. Most sit-com shows after the ‘60s had kids smarting off to their scatter-brained parents or the parents were largely ignored. LEAVE IT TO BEAVER preserves a lost culture of Americana.
I was only small. But my parents were pretty pop culture savvy and it lived on in reruns for some time when I was a teenager.

Just about anything touched by Donald P Belassario.
I would watch Gilligan’s Island and then Hogan’s Heroes after school every day.
My old man would come into the den during Hogan’s Heroes and change out of his boots and put them and his socks by the heater vent.
He’d watch a few minutes of their antics, get up, shake his head and say “Oh those crazy guys!” Every time.
He was a WWII vet. I’m glad he didn’t ruin the show for me.
Route 66, the first 3 seasons, with George Maharis. Great location filming.
I really enjoyed all but one episode of Babylon 5. You eeither understand or you don’t.
Babylon 5 was a beautifully constructed storyline that held together from beginning to end. About 20 years ago it ran on some cable channel (probably Sy-Fi), two episodes a night, one could watch the entire series in weeks. I really came to appreciate the continuity, the character development and the depth of the story line during that time. JMS is a brilliant
writer.

When you consider which old TV (pre-telescreen) shows to watch, first ask yourself whether the show could be made today. Is it compatible with today’s woke standards of diversity, inclusiveness, and political correctness? If the answer is “yes”, then don’t waste your time. If “no”, then watch and enjoy!
A few that come to mind:
Amos and Andy
McHale’s Navy
F Troop
Sanford and Son
Dukes of Hazzard
Wild Wild West
Wild fact about Hogan’s Heroes.

Combat! Rockford Files. Twilight Zone. The Outer Limits
Castle? Sorry but a chick show. Your other choices are all excellent recommendations. 1883 maybe the best period Western show in modern times.
Can someone tell me where to guns like the ones you used to see on TV that never run out of ammunition?
My favorite? Murder She Wrote.
Angela Lansbury is a treasure.
