In April 2014, four naval aviators narrowly escaped disaster. Just as they entered highly controlled airspace for a training exercise, their two F/A-18F fighter jets nearly collided with an unidentified flying object (UFO). To the frustration of dozens of their fellow aviators, such a near-catastrophe was inevitable.
For months before and after the incident, aircrews flying in “exclusive use” training areas off the U.S. East Coast frequently observed unknown objects exhibiting highly anomalous flight characteristics.

For fighter pilots armed with an array of advanced sensors, the confusion and bewilderment reflected in the reports is striking.

According to Graves, “We’d go on a flight in the morning, they’d be out there. You go on a flight in the evening, they’re out there. … They were pretty much always there when we went out there.”

“We’re way out there — in some cases hundreds of miles out to sea — and yet there’s air traffic operating, and they’re operating in ways that are befuddling our aviators,” Graves said.
If the mysterious objects were drones, Graves speculated, “either [they] have some source of energy that allows them to stay airborne for very long periods of time or there is some massive operation involving hundreds, if not thousands, of [drones] and boats and they are constantly launching and landing and somehow we haven’t seen that.”
Moreover, training ranges typically begin 10 or more miles offshore, which, according to Graves, “is a significant barrier for drones.” “Even if they were submarine-launched, we would see them descending to the ocean at some point. We’d see something. Even if they just blew up, we’d see something,” he said.

Sheesh.
Can’t collide with an optical illusion.
What would he have the Pentagon do, fire all missiles?
Our best weapons probably couldn’t scratch their paint
If you’re trying to go down that road, then you’re not informed on the subject.
I believe these objects are real and a small, obscure group within our government know exactly what they are.
If these things truly are alien life forms who have travelled across the galaxy to putz around in Earth’s atmosphere - then their technology is so incredibly advanced, these pilots never have to worry about colliding with one.
I wonder why UFOs only f... around with Navy pilots?
It should be remembered that when the atomic bomb was built during WW-II, that program was so secretive that even many of the participants were in the dark about what they were working on.
Nor are the encounters unique to the Navy. While he has not spoken with them directly, Graves is aware of “a number of [Air Force] F-22 crews that are experiencing similar issues.”
The next Top Gun sequel: Maverick vs Mars
I believe Bob Lazar
Not that I don’t believe them. There must be something to it. But I flew Army for 16 years, and routinely through the Bermuda Triangle, and never did I see anything weird. Must be that my airplane was a boring old turbo-prop job...

UFOs like playing games with the Russian military as well.
Scientific American figured out something was 'happening' when they got a bunch of subscriptions from a small obscure town in Tennessee (in the early 40's) called Oak Ridge. They kept the secret secret.
And why do they hang out in the airspace that the government reserves for training and test flights?
Gee, that’s a real stumper. /s
If you eliminate the “alien” possibility, it is pretty clear that these are man made and probably ours.
Other countries would have used them by now—at least Russia. And China would have been selling them.
The part that should piss people off is the energy source (which must be clean and compact) and the anti-grav tech that would revolutionize transportation.
But the concept that we have to have a tactical Trump card drives these people. And it’s a shame.
Drone tech is very interesting. Imagine an extremely lightweight and agile, pilotless aircraft made only to go incredibly fast and not give a radar signature. Not built to carry any weapons, little if any landing gear, fuel capacity of one hour. Modern cameras that are tiny and weigh almost nothing. Tiny bright led lights. The gadget is surely built already.
