Conservative push to recruit election deniers as poll workers causes alarm
The Guardian via MSN ^ | 6/30/22 | Sam Levine

Republicans and other conservative groups are undertaking a huge effort to recruit election workers, a push that could install people with unfounded doubts about the 2020 election in key positions in voting precincts where they could exert considerable power over elections.

At the forefront of this push is Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who was on Donald Trump’s legal team in 2020 and played a key role in his effort to overturn the election. Over the last few months, Mitchell has held “election integrity summits” in several battleground states, convening groups and citizens who continue to believe the 2020 election was stolen. The summits offer in-depth training on how to monitor election offices and how to work elections. At a mid-June summit in North Carolina, Mitchell mocked the term “election denier” and said “whether the outcome was correct, that’s all I deny”. Voter fraud is extremely rare and there was no evidence of widespread fraud in 2020.

The effort, called the Election Integrity Network, underscores how Trump and allies are capitalizing on now deeply seeded Republican doubt about Joe Biden’s victory and are targeting key election offices and jobs that play a considerable role in determining how ballots are cast and counted. The summits are a project of the Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI), a group with close ties to Trump’s political operation, and where Mitchell is a senior legal fellow. Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, is a senior partner at CPI.

Mitchell has described the effort as a way to take control of the apparatus of local elections, according to ABC News. CPI did not return a request for comment.

“Given that people who were part of the attempted coup are behind this, it’s certainly something that at a minimum we need to be vigilant about,” said David Becker...

I was an election denier before election denying was cool. How many times have we seen the Republicans been ahead during the counting when suddenly a ballot box is found under a desk or in the trunk of an election worker's car which pushes the Democrat to victory, but the Republicans never get a last second win? How can we trust the count of the ballots when we can't even reliably track and count the ballot boxes on their way from the precincts to the county election board?

I was listening to a history class on Victorian Britain and their election reforms. One of the arguments against switching to secret ballots was that without public voting they would be subject to ballot box stuffing like the United States was. This was a hundred fifty years ago so election fraud is not something new.

So let me get this straight. They think its bad to have people that want elections to be fair from being involved in the election process.

There’s that word again. I’m glad leftists give themselves away with loaded phrases and words such as “community,” “critical,” “denier,” “domestic terrorist,” “equity,” “fascist,” “gun safety,” “justice,” “-phobe,” and “white nationalist.” Those cliches make cultural Marxist rubbish that much easier to spot (and ignore) when it’s passed off as “journalism.”

pity Guardian had no interest whatsoever in investigating the shenanigans of the 2020 election, pre- or post-election.

Zuckerberg’s involvement alone should have resulted in dozens of articles...but I doubt there are any!

Voter fraud is extremely rare and there was no evidence of widespread fraud in 2020.

Note the source(s) of MSN & The Guardian, and see the bias in this 'statement'! When every effort is turned to AVOID looking at / for fraud, it becomes easy to state such 'male bovine excrement'!

So, if the conservative side makes a good faith effort to put trained and upright observers, it is only to match those on the LEFT, correct? After '2000 Mules', the term 'Denier', which by itself, is a misappropriation of the Holocaust, is the accusation by the people who want to keep THEIR LEFT winning!

Um, voter fraud was extremely common in 2020.

and there was no evidence of widespread fraud in 2020.

Yes there was. There was evidence everywhere of massive ballot fraud.

They will never admit it but they are worried it will become harder to steal. David Lara and Gary Snyder have been investigating vote fraud in Yuma Arizona for 20 years. They have the fraud caught on video. They turned it over to the Arizona AG (Bronovich) and he did nothing with until 2000Mules came out. Even then he took a misdemeanor plea when he could have easily gone for a fraud felony conviction. He clearly wanted to make this case go away quitely

This was a criminal organization and it obviously goes way beyond Yuma Arizona. The corruption goes on from both sides so few people in power want to actually fix it. In Arizona this corruption machine crushed all the election reform bills.

That headline needs to read “Conservative Push to get other Conservatives to serve as poll watchers and vote counters causes alarm as it will be much harder to cheat again if Democrats don’t hold a monopoly on the machinery of vote counting.”

...how Trump and allies are capitalizing on now deeply seeded Republican doubt

Illiterates at the Guardian lecturing. Typical. The phrase is “deeply seated” not “deeply seeded”.

If there’s no cheating, there’s nothing for them to worry about. In fact, they should welcome the “denier” poll workers so they can be shown how honestly and accurately the elections are conducted.

I helped the Trump campaign with the recount in Milwaukee... And the answer is, yes, the Democrats did everything they could to prevent us from being able to see what they were doing.

I do like the, “election denier”, phrase. After 2 years of reliving the worst of the 70s, denial is looking like genius. Even if I thought the election was fair, I would deny it, at this point.
