The Treachery of VP Mike Pence Explained Who fired General Flynn and started the Russia Hoax in the first place?

“How come the Democrats and … Republicans, like Wacky Susan Collins, are desperately trying to pass legislation that will not allow the vice-president to change the results of the election?

“Actually, what they are saying, is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome, and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power. He could have overturned the election!”

It’s time for Republican voters to admit that they had no idea who Mike Pence was. Don’t be too upset with yourself. He fooled plenty of people. The man you thought he was — that guy doesn’t really exist. It’s time you paid much closer attention to your favorite politicians though— if you want your country to survive.

Stands to reasons that he has the Constitutional power to only accept valid and legal certificates.

Even had he had that power, why were the certificates in front of him not valid and legal? They were submitted by the states using their approved process. There was only one set of electors under consideration. No state legislature had submitted a second set of electors. No court had ordered the electors recalled. So Pence was supposed to recall them because he felt like it?

Nice try, but I think they were trying to remove the ambiguity. Laws can be unclear. That doesn't mean that you can do what ever you want. It means courts have to decide or the legislature has to step in.

His role was not ceremonial. The founders were creating a working blueprint of power, not pomp and circumstance rituals without meaning.
He was not a mere powerless rubber stamp or the founders would have seen no need for it.
He was meant to certify that everything was legitimate. Had he not rubber stamped, he would have forced the Supreme Court into acting.

He’s trash and a coward.

As I understand, he had the power to delay the certification allowing time for the investigation of election fraud to be completed - not to change, but to delay.

Fraud because someone said there was fraud? Shouldn't the courts be the ones to determine if fraud existed to the point of justifying the delay? What gave Pence the authority to make that call?

People tend to forget if a VP had that power, why wasn’t there a President Gore?

And don’t tell me because Algore had a sudden flash of constitutionality!

Confirm the validity of the certificates by sending them back to the objecting state legislators for review, yes.

Only the state legislatures have the power to produce valid legal certificates which they did so do.

What part of my above comment don't you understand?

You’re not a ‘state legislature’.

As if I said that I was?

Geez.

The Vice President of the United States has no authority to “overthrow” the government. In a purely parliamentary sense, he only has authority to grant a hearing to those who may object to the election results of a given state, and that only well-defined challenges MAY be heard. But if the challenges are never heard, or are quashed before any actions are taken, then the original vote count for that state stands.

This just gets trickier than arithmetic.

As i understand it Pence could have returned the vote to the state legislatures to ensure the integrity of the the process with all the doubts about vote counts etc.

The "as I understand it" part you describe seems reasonable, but it simply is not correct. Read the 12th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It says nothing about the VP having that kind of power. And it makes no sense to give a VP that kind of power, because if he had it he could (theoretically) keep sending it back to the state legislatures over and over again for years.

For example, and to magnify the point, if you or I were to send the VP something claiming to be valid legal certificates, Pence would throw those bogus certificates in the garbage.

If those were the only electoral vote certificates the VP received from your state, I'm not so sure he would have the authority to throw them in the garbage.

His role was not ceremonial.

No, it wasn't. That doesn't mean he had full discretion to do whatever the hell he wanted. He had a job to do, and he did it.

Read the U.S. Constitution. It describes exactly what the VP's responsibilities are in the electoral vote counting process.

Pence conspired with Ryan and Preibus to get Trump dumped from the ticked when the pussygate tape hit.
Pence joined the Russia claim and lied to get Flynn fired and bring in McMaster and neocon crowd.
He was nearly silent during the fake Mueller scam that he knew was a lie. He utterly failed to get the Senate to build the wall and repeal Obamacare.
He let Fauci and Birx run wild. He stood with Milley against Trump cracking down on the George Floyd riots.

After the rampant election fraud in 2020, he sided with the insurrectionists and the swamp coup.
On the 6th, he conspired with Milley, Pelosi, and Mitch to box in Trump, flood two divisions of soldiers into DC, and conduct a stealth 25th.

He’s absolute trash, a liar, a backstabbing coward, and in my experience, guys who make a big show of their faith as he does usually are fake.

Are you suggesting Pence could have returned the votes simply because he wanted to?

That's exactly what a lot of people here on FR seem to think. LOL.

I remember people were challenging the fraud, Dominion machines to this day have not been surrendered in AZ. and

any other place Dems and the collussion buddies Pence Rinos
had any say.

We have no election integrity we are just like Venezuela
who first used the Dominion machine

BTW, you both missed and made my point.

Pence throwing our bogus certificates in the garbage IS an example of the VP making a determination, and not just simply and mindlessly opening up envelopes and passing them along.

I’m not going to go back and read all of that, but I don’t think Pence had the power to change the outcome. I think he had the power to not certify the election and to call for an investigation after several Senators raised objections.

There were alternate slates

Please stop posting this verifiably false B.S. You make intelligent FR veterans look like morons (by association) when you post that crap here.

There wasn't a single state that sent "alternate slates" of electors to Congress in 2020.

The first time Pence really come to my attention was back in 2006 after one of W's major amnesty pushes had been defeated. That's when news stories about some congressman from Indiana who had a scheme to revive the amnesty push began to appear. Pat Buchannan wrote a column about it.

The Stealth Amnesty of Mike Pence

Soon after that I began thinking of him as a Paul Ryan Republican for years until he was chosen as VP. He seemed to support President Trump mostly, but we seldom know what's going on behind the scenes.
