Elected prosecutors across 29 states have signed a statement suggesting they will refuse to prosecute people who seek, assist and provide those who have abortions following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the 50-year law that guaranteed access to the procedure in every state.
Those signing the statement include officials from states including Mississippi, Missouri and Wisconsin that have enacted bans or about to introduce bans following Roe v. Wade's reversal.
'Not all of us agree on a personal or moral level on the issue of abortion, but we stand together in our firm belief that prosecutors have a responsibility to refrain from using limited criminal legal system resources to criminalize personal medical decisions.
'As such, we decline to use our offices' resources to criminalize reproductive health decisions and commit to exercise our well-settled discretion and refrain from prosecuting those who seek, provide, or support abortions,' read the statement which has been signed by 84 prosecutors.
The group includes district attorneys and state attorneys general, according to NBC.
The prosecutors added further detail explaining how enforcing abortion bans would 'hinder our ability to hold perpetrators accountable, take resources away from the enforcement of serious crime, and inevitably lead to the retraumatization and criminalization of victims of sexual violence.'
One district attorney from Texas, Joe Gonzalez, whose jurisdiction includes the city of San Antonio, said 'using limited resources to prosecute personal healthcare decisions would be a violation' of his oath.
Texas is among 13 states that would automatically ban abortion in the first and second trimesters within 30 days of the Supreme Court's decision.

Each and every one if they are in jurisdictions that these procedures are illegal have publicly stated they not only intend to no do their jobs but fully intend to violate their oath of office…

Biden craps all over the constitution by refusing to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,” so we KNEW that this would happen on abortion. “Sanctuary” states set the precedent when they willfully ignored state and federal laws and nothing happened.
The abortion mills will keep running and nobody will get arrested or prosecuted in defiance of state law. It’s just one more example of the two tier justice system where liberals and the elite get their own judicial system that favors them.
This is a huge root cause of the failure of the USA to survive.

If these DAs can ignore the law when abortion is banned, where were all the DAs ignoring the law when abortion was protected?
The answer is that the Right follows the Law, even when they don’t agree with the law. It is the Left that only enforces the laws they want to enforce. Because they are evil.
The Left has always beleived the ends justify the means, while the Right has always beleived in the rule of law, not the rule of man.

I am assuming the state Attorneys General can prosecute these local officials for failing to uphold the law. We will see if there is political will or not.
Nope. Near absolute immunity from civil suit, and it not a crime for the government to be do-absolutely-nothing derelict.
It is not a crime for the government to lie to the people. It is not a crime for a judge to lie to the people, or to the parties in his courtroom. It is not a croime for a judge to render unconsitutional rulings (and also no civil penalty).
The law is not useful to fix itself, or to throw the bums out.
People who promote and sanction abortion forfeit their right to establish public policy. No public office or voting process befits them, as they have willfully deprived fellow citizens of life and liberty without due process.
Does anyone honestly think anything will happen to them even though they have signed confessions?
In 1861 when a group of people tried to get divorced, there was a war of northern agression.
They only follow constitutional Supreme Court decisions that agree with them. It’s called fascism. Why don’t these people just pack up and leave and go to some other country there are so many that already approve of their tactics and their beliefs. It’s just so much work to change this one. And who knows the true American people may never allow it.
Two out of three abortions are done using the two pill method. From what I understand those can still be sent across state lines so they will still get to those who want to commit abortion.
In the big picture not much will physically change on the ground. They simply don’t have the cover of R v W to cover for them on a national level.
Any prosecutor who signed that should be removed from office immediately.

Very simple. If its state law and they do not enforce it then impeach them.
These “prosecutors” claim the right to decide what the law is.
I imagine AG Ken Paxton will have something in store for the one in Texas.
