The 1973 Roe v Wade ruling that guarantees the federal right to an abortion could be scrapped as early as today as the Supreme Court hands down multiple new opinions.
The Court does not announce in advance which decisions will be made public, and instead only says that decisions will be declared. This week, the opinions are being released on Tuesday and Thursday.
There are 18 cases that need final rulings before the justices depart for their traditional summer break, which usually happens by the end of June or early July.
The case in question that the Supreme Court will rule on is listed as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
On May 2, Politico published a leaked draft of the decision, in an unprecedented breach of the traditional secrecy surrounding their verdicts. The draft document, which Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed was authentic, would see the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling overturned.
The Justices could have changed their minds in the intervening weeks, but most expect their verdict to be the same - striking down federal guarantees that abortion be available in every state.

Sure, it could be today. Anything’s possible. But next week seems more plausible given the SCOTUS history of saving ultra-controversial decisions until the last day for a release-it-and-get-out-of-Dodge-before-sundown kinda approach.

Agree. To much hype towards a humane and sensible ruling. The left wants our side broken, what better way than to green light the continued slaughter. I take no comfort in the absolute fact that it will the left’s own children killed in this manner, we are speaking of innocents. I’m not optimistic on this one. Feels like they are playing us.
Why would they change their mind? The USSC usurped the power of the states. It simply goes back to the states. At one time, abortion was illegal in every state in the USA.
Maybe they’ll defer releasing it until they resume session next fall.
