Last month, when a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion indicated that judges were preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade and the Biden administration started weighing its options, New York writer April Salazar was one person watching the news very closely. That's because the right to abortion had been vital to her not so long ago.
Salazar and her husband, back in 2013, had made the decision to have an abortion when she was far along in her pregnancy — 21 weeks gestation — after doctors discovered their in-utero son had a lethal birth defect.
“It was very surprising to find myself, in my mid-30s and happily married and wanting so badly to be a mom, and to find myself needing an abortion,” Salazar tells Yahoo Life. “No one can ever imagine until they live through it, and unfortunately the people making choices for us are the people who will never live through it.”
Salazar had had a difficult time conceiving, and ultimately went through eight rounds of IUI to become pregnant that first time. After getting through her first trimester, Salazar remembers breathing a sigh of relief, believing that her unborn baby had made it through the most uncertain phase of pregnancy. But an anatomy scan at 18 weeks would reveal the devastating diagnosis.
“I knew that we were going to see a lot of images of our baby. I was actually squeezing my husband's arm in excitement,” recalls Salazar. “During that appointment we got our initial diagnosis — that our baby had lethal skeletal dysplasia."
Skeletal dysplasia is the medical term for a group of 400 conditions that affect bone development, neurological function and cartilage growth. Many cases can be diagnosed via ultrasound, and severe cases can be fatal.

Her excuse is weak. She’s a monster.
Sick
I have two lovely kids grown up, I do not know what I would do knowing one was going to be born with a lethal condition.
TRUST GOD!
My best friend years ago was told that her baby died in the womb...than days later they said we heard a heartbeat, so it was going to be a Monster and to abort it. She gave birth to a PERFECT DAUGHTER ! She TRUSTED GOD.
Wtf is a lethal birth defect?
The Lord tested her. She failed.
This is a complete red herring. The child was diagnosed with a LETHAL medical condition. Her procedure is more like a medical D&C. This example seeks to deliberately obfuscate that in 99.9% of the times executing a child is for the convenience of the parent(s).
I think you get two choices in that situation:
1) Love your child as much as you can, for as long as you can.
2) Murder that little SOB as soon as you get the chance.
I don’t think the choice is hard.
Eggs have a shelf life...who knew.
We all have a lethal condition. God bless you and your kids.
A small number of cases like this and the Lame Street Media aka Satan’s Army New Service uses it as reason enough to continue to slaughter millions of babies.
Abortion is why we now have Population Bioweapons and Euthanasia jabs
Well the child won’t have a chance to live through it since you killed her.
The baby killers were demanding the right to abortion up to the very seconds before the time of birth. And some mothers even want the right to abortion 24 days AFTER birth!
They knew that argument was not going to be received well by the public, so now they come up with stories like this. They know full well they are losing the argument.
Your “CHOICE” comes when you decide to spread your legs. Not AFTER you get pregnant!
Honestly just take care of the child as best you can. That is all that we all can do.
As long as the baby is white it’s ok. /s
One of the stupider pro-abortion arguments. By this logic, for example, nobody that isn’t potentially going to be placed on a battlefield should have any say on national defense issues.
Any number of physical deformities can result in a baby dying in utero or shortly after birth.
I held my first great grandson appeared as a 21 week abrupt unattended birth. There was no saving him as he breathed his last being held by his mother, father and grandmother. He was perfect in every way except for his ability to breathe. It was heartbreaking to watch my granddaughter lose her first baby. It hard to believe any Dr or medical pro calling the little guy just a clump of cells. His family was able to love him in his very short life.
