Latino Democrats vent their fury after foreboding special election loss in Texas

Less than 24 hours after the GOP flipped a congressional district in South Texas, several Latino Democrats cornered their campaign chief on the House floor with a fervent plea: It’s time for the party to make a crucial course correction.

Republicans blew up more than a century of almost uninterrupted Democratic control in that region Tuesday night, earning a special election win in a heavily Latino border district they had rarely even contested since its creation in 2012 - but where the GOP has made rapid gains in the last few years.

That trend has been on Democrats’ minds since former President Donald Trump cut deep into the party’s margins in the Rio Grande Valley in 2020. But national Republicans poured money into the special election in this 85 percent Latino district from the beginning.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and its allies, meanwhile, only made a small investment at the end, despite requests from members to get involved earlier.

“I hope the DCCC learns their lesson with this before it happens across the country,” said Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who due to redistricting will face GOP Rep.-elect Mayra Flores this fall in a redrawn district.

“They have just forgotten about the brown people on the border,” Gonzalez continued. “And that’s basically what it is. I’m not going to try to sugarcoat it anymore. They are taking Latinos in South Texas for granted.”

When the House convened Wednesday afternoon, several members approached DCCC Chair Sean Patrick Maloney. Democratic Reps. Sylvia Garcia and Veronica Escobar, whose Texas districts are also predominantly Latino, were among them. Garcia said she requested a meeting next week and that Escobar, Gonzalez and fellow Democratic Reps. Henry Cuellar and Joaquin Castro all plan to attend.

Maybe Latinos don’t want their kids to be groomed and molested by purple haired faggots in dresses.

Trump has the right formula.

Secure the border. Get rid of Gaia worship that hampers our ability to drill and frack oil and gas and cut taxes in exchange for higher tariffs. - if you cut companies’ costs in terms of regulations, energy and taxes, they can afford to pay Americans higher wages....especially if they can’t import cheap crap from China without getting slapped with tariffs.

Pro guns. No CRT or grooming in schools. Pro family. Stay out of foreign wars. Represent the working and middle class, not globalist country club corporate shills. Do those things and most Hispanics will vote Republican. An increasing percentage of Black males will too.

even my racist grandfather (according to the 2022 definition of racist) had always generally spoke fairly well of the hispanic community. Yeah, he wasn’t a big fan of “chicano” culture etc....but he always spoke of how they were willing to work hard to make it for themselves and move into the mainstream, middle-class of America.

News flash for the Democrats - brown and black skinned people buy gas and groceries.

Skin color won’t keep people on the Democratic plantation in the face of $5 gas.

Latinos care about good jobs and a healthy economy. Sure there are bad mangoes among them but the vast majority are decent people. Trump’s message appealed to a good many last time. This Rat induced economy and perversion culture is waking up more Latinos to reality. The fruits are ripe for the pickings.

That has been a point which has bothered me for as long as I can remember, even back in Dallas in the late 60’s.

I had black and Latino friends, no issues. But there were few if any black and Latino friends with each other. And God forbid a black student approached a Latino girl. I could, although there would be some ribbing, but it would be war if a black guy tried. (I was pretty swarthy from the Texas sun, so I think they thought I had some Latino in me.)

“I don’t understand this sentence, she just won an election against a democrat”

It was a special election to fill a vacated seat until the term ends. She will have to run again in the midterms.

From personal knowledge, there exists in Mexico substantial antipathy the browns have towards the blacks. I wonder, since the Democrat Party is black-oriented, wouldn’t that fact of life anger most browns in Texas and elsewhere? Just curious.

Poor Flores. Just won an election and will have to run for re-election in less than 6 months. She might as well start campaigning in the redistricted area now.

Most people can already see what a crap America looks like when RATards are in charge.

Hard thing to take is when you find out your own worst enemy is you and your stinking party, Mr Gonzalez.

I believe the MAGA party needs to focus on what is best and in the interests of all Americans.

That is how it started and that should stay the same.
