According to Astra Space, the first stage flight was successful, but an early upper stage shut down led to the rocket's satellite payload failing to reach orbit.
A previous Astra rocket launch failed to deliver it's payload on Feb. 10. That was the start-up rocket company's first launch from Florida's Space Coast.
NASA said "an in-flight anomaly" prevented delivery of the CubeSat payloads.
NASA's Launch Services Program Mission Manager Hamilton Fernandez released a forgiving message: “Missions like these are critical for developing new launch vehicles in this growing commercial sector. The Astra team demonstrated dedication to supporting NASA’s mission. The lessons learned will benefit them and the agency going forward."

They put a man on the Moon, and send rockets to Mars, but they can't learn the distinction between the contraction "it's" (= "it is") and the possessive pronoun "its."
Regards,
“Missions like these are critical for developing new launch vehicles in this growing commercial sector. The Astra team demonstrated dedication to supporting NASA’s mission. The lessons learned will benefit them and the agency going forward.”
That’s a real glass-half-full statement. Go turn that pile of lemons into lemonade. I enjoy their positivity.
That’s why journalist author Matt Leonard was booted from the rocket design team. That and he could never master how you can divide a half in half.

0 for 2......that kind of batting average will get you sent to the minor leagues.
It would’ve taken nasa another 100 years to figure out how to do that. SMH
I do that to. I know better, when I think about it, but my lazy mind is used to apostrophe ess being after names that are possessive. “Frank tried to start Mary’s car, but found that it()s battery was dead. “
This is not Musk failing. Spacex is doing great
All it takes is one bad solder joint.
Most aerospace companies are sorely underfunded. Astra is one of those. Lots of big players, but only timid investments.
Boom Supersonic is another bust company. If you look at the $500 million spent by other aerospace companies who needed billions more to bring products to market but failed to reach critical funding, you laugh at the $300 million Astra has raised.
Too optimistic.
I counted roughly 40 uses of "it's" in your postings since May 31, 2022, and they were all flawless!
Regards,
Astra has had one successful launch so far. That one was a test of the rocket and did not deliver any payload. Their other tests have also been failures.
You're right. I've known people who worked for NASA.
I know there are some really brilliant, dedicated folks
who work for NASA and want the USA's space program to
succeed. But I believe NASA has become hidebound agency
hamstrung by ridiculous diversity nonsense and interference
from Democrat Party leftist kooks who don't think USA should
have a space program because the money should be
spent on America's "disadvantaged" class.
As for all of those smart people who work there -
they are constantly undercut by the bureaucrats.
SpaceX is what it is today due to Elon Musk. In the future, competition is necessary. Without competition, inertia prevails and no one can get anything done.
I worked for the DoD for almost 31 years....I know all about bureaucracy.
And when odumbo told nasa to help the Muslims and shut down the shuttle program I knew they were in trouble.
Of course as we know anything the fed gov gets its fingers into turns to crap....usps, amtrak and on and on.
Anytime you use the “we need some from each protected group” model over the best qualified person for the job model (God forbid!) only thing you get is a mediocre product.
Working in aviation maintenance in support of the US Navy warfighter, to this day I’m surprised we never lost a flight crew......but in 31 years I did see a few close calls however.
