You've Got a Year to Turn the Economy Around, What Would You Do?
Self

I see a lot of comments about what Biden is screwing up and there are many ways.

Let's pretend you have a year, a cooperating Congress, and a mandate to turn the economy around as President, what would you do? (I know, a lot of ifs especially regarding Congress, but work with me here).

Better yet, to stave off the "Let's vote Trump in and let him do it" voices, what would Trump have to do to turn the economy around if he were to take charge tomorrow?

I also hear a lot of "you just can't turn the oil spigot back on. It just doesn't work that way" comments. Fine. What would you do?

Put Trump back in office and let him continue. Of course, give him a few trusted advisors for hiring people as Trump sucks for that.

I would immediately declare a oil lease “holiday.” Oil lease sales on federal lands which are currently blocked will go forward and purchases will be finalized within 30 days. Any lease holder who begins drilling operations within six months and begins production within a year will have royalties forgiven for 5 years on the lease.

Once people are on the dole, they are onmthe dole for life because kic,ing them off is unpopular and would result in riots

Yep. So that's why we are printing money. Inflation. So I don't see a way out of the situation we're in, really.

I would implement the Trump economic policies and diplomatic strategies.

In fact, I would simply surrender my chair to him.

Step 1 Mandate ALL Public Employee’s Nationwide immediately enroll in Obamacare, with severe consequences of Immediate Termination and Revocation of ALL Pension and Retirement benefits
Step 2
Mandate ALL Federal Employee’s exclusively use Transportation trhat does NOT use any type of fossil fuel, with severe consequences of Immediate Termination and Revocation of ALL Pension and Retirement benefits

Didn't expect this one, but interesting. I like your thinking.

1) Prosecute criminal Deep Staters around the Covid thing, withdraw from WHO and the UN, and end all that.

2) Undo all the Biden admin’s reversal of Trump energy policies.

3) Move the bulk of our military training to the border—and aggressively deport illegals.

4) Drastically cut spending and end grants to states, municipalities and schools through the college level.

5) Let freedom and federalism ring.

Step 1 would immediately bring down the cost of healthcare when Millions of New Customers are in the plan

Step 2 would immediately reduce the cost of gasoline at the pump because of the millions of fewer customers

That’s how I see it. A recession is necessary and that will wring inflation out as higher and higher fuel prices begin to create demand destruction. Layoffs will reduce income, uncompetitive businesses will fail and voila, Depression. Just in time for 2024.

No doubt about the pain that would come as a result of anything implemented.

Get rid of all democrats.
Raise interest rates to stop inflation.
Get rid of all subsidies for green energy.
Get rid of regulations slowing down business productivity.
Cut taxes for the wealthy.

Put Brian Deese in prison. Prosecute Blackrock for securities fraud (bribery) and get Blackrock out of the oval office.

Not an expert on the oil industry to very specific, but my casual observation is that we first need to reduce barriers and burdens on the oil and gas industries. Keystone pipeline comes to mind.

Second, reverse all the foolish (childish really) executive orders Brandon issued to reverse Trump policies.

Third, stop - I mean full stop of the southern border invasion. We will paying for for a long time.

Fourth, determine what additional tax cuts, regulatory restrictions, etc can be eased.

Fifth, cut spending. Pay a small team a commission on what waste can be cut. Hope they get rich.

That’s what immediately comes to mind.

1. - REVERSE EVERYTHING Biden has done to the petroleum industry. (notice I did not say fossil fuels)

2. - Build 50 new refineries.

3. - Build 25 new Nuclear power stations.

4. - Declare that Climate Change is NOT caused by us.
Create the Climate Change Adaptation Agency.

1. Reinstate the XL Pipeline project with the promise that the permission will not be changed for at least 20 years.
2. Open all federal lands to oil and gas exploration, but keeping existing parks untouched.
3. Streamline the oil exploration/production/delivery process so a permit never takes more than 3 months.
4. Finish the border fence and close the border completely to illegal entry.
5. Deny any assistance to illegal aliens, either in services or subsidies.
6. Cut corporate taxes to 17% max.
7. Institute a 17% fixed tax on income. Everyone, regardless of income level, pays this tax. No deduction and, hence, no allocation distortions caused by tax policy or politicians.
8. Collect all student debt. They borrowed it, they spent it, they reap any of its rewards, they must pay for it.
9. Stop business subsidies except those that are directly paid to active farmers. Those who are valued in the market will survive. Those that are a sham (Solindra) will disappear.
10. Stop welfare and move it to workfare, similar to that in Europe. That is, if you are unemployed, the Federal gov’t hires you to clean toilets, windows, etc. in public buildings or other forms of public employment at minimum wage. If you don’t show up, no benefits. Random drug testing is part of your federal job.

As soon as I post this, I’ll think of a dozen others, but it’s a start. Like my students used to say: I’d be a horrible President, but a great dictator.
