It came to me this morning. The government (i.e. law enforcement, military) doesn't want the general public having firearms because it ENDANGERS the police and military, public be damned. If folks are killing each other with knives or anything other than a firearm, the enforcement part of government doesn't care because use of anything but a firearm for the most part will not endanger them that much because THEY have overwhelming firepower to defend themselves.
If folks are stabbing each other to death, fine. Hard to kill a police officer with a stray knife throw, but a stray bullet is a different matter. It also explains why they don't do much about the mayhem in Chicago or New York. Criminals are not attacking law enforcement there that much, just each other.
The government folks are NOT concerned about people killing each OTHER, just as long as they are not killing them (police and military personnel). So, no guns, no threat to them. And, if you severely disagree with what the government is doing to you, go ahead and grab you knife and go for it.
Interesting corrolary - in China, where private gun ownership of any kind is absolutely banned - they have a big problem with mass stabbings in schools.
People do not understand the original source and history of our right to bear arms. They think it solely started with the Constitution and our schools and society does not teach the bigger picture. They also don’t see the result of disarmed populations around the world, much less in the US. Nor do they appreciate that the police have no duty to respond, likely won’t in a timely fashion. Citizens have been conditioned to depend upon the government that won’t protect them and they only realize it as they or their family die.

I’m not sure this is aimed at the right target. No pun intended.
Don’t get me wrong, because I suspect a lot of cops would be able to get up in the morning with a slightly lower level of stress if they knew their job entailed dealing with a population devoid of firearms, but while I don’t know a lot of LEOs, the ones I do are pro2a, and are fully capable of differentiating the concepts of legal ownership for personal/home protection and for sport, versus the criminals who are the ones they are dealing with on the front lines.
Why does it seem like in Chicago the political leadership doesn’t seem to care about people killing each other (as long as it’s not them)? You get lip service, but not much action. When a protest happens in front of one of their houses though, you’d think the sky was falling. Suddenly there’s action.
I have no way of pinning it down, but I still have theories that revolve around clandestine powers wanting to turn our cities into no-go zones like we have seen in some other parts of the world. Places where law enforcement is missing, and basically self governs. I’m not so sure it’s necessarily based on the forces of any social/religious or ethnic order, moreso that it would enable self-governing organized crime to really make territorial hay. Just thoughts, but I think police and military boots on the ground are just people doing a job. They aren’t the ones scheming anything IMO.

We loose the hosts of Heaven to cut down and into multiple pieces their communications between the strongmen evil spirit powers and all their superiors, and all their minions, that their plans are turned into complete confusion. In Jesus’ Name.
Make their way dark and slippery, so that they unbalance on camera and in person. Send them the spirit of truth, that they tell the truth when it is disadvantageous for them, and the spirit of error, that they make many many many mistakes, missteps, and misjudgements of power and timing.
Let this bring many of these leaders to the end of themselves, and that You may then offer to them the blessing of Salvation, that they may accept it and be saved.
And let many freedom loving (believers only) read and repeat this spiritual warfare prayer OUT LOUD to the spirit world, taking authority over evil spirit powers in the unseen realm, that they must obey, so that evil is stalled and/or stopped in this one area at this moment.

In my lifetime I have watched 911 do this. Nobody thinks of their own responsibility for security in their home, emergency medical care or anything.
In the time I have lived, I have watched the telephone go from a virtually indestructible system to something far more fragile, as well. It used to be that the phone had its own power and would work, even when a storm had knocked out electric power.
911 was created in that time, and for those phones. As frail as we see America’s economy in the current crises, so is America’s infrastructure. The people who depend on 911 will die easily when the system fails.
Exactly the way it was done in Nazi Germany. Take everybodys guns. Create a “tattle tale” network of punks and then go by in the middle of the night and do whatever they deem necessary.

The purpose of depriving the populace of arms has always been to create havoc in civil society. Tyrants understand that criminals will always find ways of being armed. If common law abiding citizens are constantly under assault by criminals and have to constantly be preoccupied with survival they will have no time to focus on corrupt politicians.

You almost got it right. Guns don’t “endanger” the government. Armed citizens endanger the government.
Please take no offense but the 2nd amendment is specially for protecting citizens from the government. It doesn’t need to come to you because you can go to it by reading the 2nd and the words of Jefferson.
