What do people who don’t believe in evil do? They blame inanimate objects. Guns.
19 years ago, a middle-aged unemployed taxi driver carrying two milk cartons full of gasoline walked onto a South Korean subway and started a fire that killed 192 people.
That was not a milk carton problem. Nor was it a gasoline problem.
6 years ago, a Muslim terrorist drove a truck into a Bastille Day event in Nice, France killing 86 and wounding over 400 other people. Body parts were being pried out of his wheel wells.
That was not a truck problem.
Across the long stretch of human history, millions of people were killed long before the invention of firearms, in often cruder and far more brutal ways. Back then we lacked CNN, but people generally understood that this was not due to the invention of smithing, but the problem of evil.
The problem with evil is that it requires us to believe in good.
Modern people are unwilling to believe in G-d, and so they believe instead in government. And they are convinced that the god of government can fix everything if we only give it the power.
The trouble is that while people may not believe in evil, evil very much believes in them.

Whether they're mentally ill (which most of them are) or consciously and willingly evil, they are being manipulated by evil.
Daniel Greenfield is a Jewish writer firmly embedded in Judaism and thus in the history of Christian civilizations, and he knows whereof he speaks.
CS Lewis said that the great triumph of the Devil (evil) was to make us think he doesn't exist.
But evil is real, and in our disordered society, we're seeing it every day - unopposed.
... the people and the society behind it.
I read him when I run across his columns.
Yep, and there is evil in society, and lots of it in government.
But there’s a reason they’re fatherless.
Our society has rejected sexual division (”God created them male and female”), male responsibility, female care, and the basic concept of good and evil.
Our churches and synagogues have collapsed and chosen the government narrative over Scripture.
It’s all politics now.
What do people who don’t believe in evil do?
They start a civil war to keep human beings as Slaves
They institute Segregation to keep others out of their lives
They institute Jim Crow Laws to keep people in their place
They create the KKK to violently enforce all of the above
They become DEMONRATS
“The Left believes that government is god and it conceives of evil as disobedience to government. The gun control debate reduces evil to the NRA and anyone who won’t obey and hand over their guns”
If people were capable of truly recognizing evil WashDC would be nearly empty by the end of the week.
Greenfield is almost always spot on. Here’s his website.

Oh they believe in evil.. they believe with all their blackened wizened shriveled hearts the you and I are evil.
Didn’t Adam outlaw rocks after Cain killed his brother?
They know we’re right. And that’s why they’re so defensive and aggressive.
I think you’ve summed it up.
Everything becomes politics and the left (statists) just manipulate it at will because they don’t believe there’s any natural law that keeps you from doing horrible things to other people.
Jews and Christians believe that there is a law, and so did our Founders, many of whom were mostly Deists. This was a sort of Unitarianism, where “the Great Watchmaker,” aka God, set it into motion and left.
But even they knew that human beings were made in the Image and Likeness of God and thus had a law and the responsibility to give that law to their new country.
I guess Adam forgot.
“If people were capable of truly recognizing evil WashDC would be nearly empty by the end of the week.”
Completely true. That’s probably been true of every government in the history of the world once it’s been in power for more than 10 minutes.
We have a weird situation now where a formerly politically changeable country is being subjected to one left-wing political regime.
I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen. “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Thanks for the post.
The left has effectively been forced by their own ideological positions to disbelieve in moral absolutes (except the supremacy of their own will). They advocate abortion, sexual perversion, theft (by Marxism), the indoctrination and grooming of children, and ultimately totalitarian control by the state.
So true. Enacting new laws, rules and regulations do not make evil people good. Evil people are still going to do evil things no matter what.
