Climate change is an existential threat that impacts not only our operations and readiness but also our infrastructure, our forces, and their families. Rising sea levels, recurring flooding, and more frequent and destructive hurricanes threaten our coastal installations. Changes in global climate and other dangerous trans-boundary threats, including pandemics, are only expected to worsen, posing increasing challenges for our forces, platforms, infrastructure, and supporting communities, and driving or intensifying conflict and humanitarian disasters around the world. The DON will adapt to these challenges that are increasingly putting pressure on our force and the systems that support it.
To combat these impacts, the Department of the Navy has an urgent charge: to build a climate-ready force.
To achieve this, the DON must meet two Performance Goals:
1. Build Climate Resilience. Ensure that our forces, systems, and facilities can continue to operate effectively and achieve the mission in the face of changing climate conditions, and worsening climate impacts.
2. Reduce Climate Threat. The Department must reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and draw greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere, stabilize ecosystems, and achieve, as an enterprise, the nation’s commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050.
The nation has committed to achieve net-zero emissions economy-wide by 2050. The President released several Executive Orders that reiterate this commitment and added specific targets that apply to the DON. In addition to these targets, and further objectives that will be established during implementation planning efforts, the DON commits to drawing down the equivalent of one million cars’ worth of CO2e by 2027 on DON-managed lands through nature-based solutions, and to install cyber-secure microgrids or comparable resilience technology to support all critical missions.
These performance goals are absolutely aligned with our mission. The One Navy-Marine Corps Team Strategic Guidance priorities of maintaining maritime dominance, empowering our people, and strengthening strategic partnerships will guide Department efforts around achieving these performance goals. Alignment with these priorities, as well as those laid out in the Chief of Naval Operation’s Navigation Plan, and the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Planning Guidance will enhance the readiness and capabilities of the DON as a global maritime power.
Uh,
1. Learn to steer the ships.
2. The Chinese are the enemy. The climate is your friend.
3. Find the woke foke. Fire their slimy *sses.
There, fixed.
“Department of the Navy Climate Action 2030”
Yet another message of POWER, something that China and Russia will understand!!!! Our ships will be Green and attacking them will destroy the planet, so we’ll be safe.
Institutionalized stupidy.
We're mostly on the continent, and can be reached without a navy.
The "green" revolution is solidly Red. Communist, Democrat and corporatist.
Toss out all who played into this insane wokeness. Start at the top and fire all who gave orders for diversity training and global warming planning.
Putting boats on the water will raise the sea level.
Maybe they should just pull them all out!
That will help with this “existential thread”!
You forgot “Don’t hit underwater sea mounts”.
It is breathtaking to see people with such an amazing capacity for stupidity reach high levels of power in today’s military and society in general.
The Navy must go along to get along. Developing is not implementing
Stupidity. Utter stupidity.
Gee, imagine that first oil tanker they hit, spilling crude into the water, killing wildlife not only with the oil but with the concussions of explosions, sending huge, billowing black clouds of toxic smoke into the air...
Stupidity. Utter stupidity.
We have lost out minds...
“The nation has committed to achieve net-zero emissions economy-wide by 2050. The President released several Executive Orders that reiterate this commitment and added specific targets that apply to the DON.”
One cent, one sheet of paper, one single second of time dedicated to this absolute lunacy is one cent, one sheet of paper, and one valuable second of time not spent on training watchstanding, damage control, seamanship, maintenance, or warfighting.
Our Navy has serious, substantial, and institutional issues they need to address with every cent and every spare second, as the McCain, Fitzgerald, and Bon Homme Richard incidents clearly signal us.
Money comes from Congress. Reps must not be riled. Riled congress critters are vindictive.
You overlook the concept of investment. Money invested is not expensed
Everyone’s getting in on the game,

WEF 2030 Vision
It’s a global thing.
“According to GRACE, melting of ice in Greenland increased sea level by 0.74 mm/year and melting in Antarctica by 0.25 mm/year since 2002.”
,74 mm = 0.02913386 inch per year
Throughout our planet’s history, sea level has risen and fallen dramatically. At times, there was no ice at the poles and the ocean was hundreds of feet higher than it is now; at other times, ice covered the planet and sea level was hundreds of feet lower. These changes are part of Earth’s natural glacial cycles and have occurred over millions of years.
I tend to look at it differently, that is true.
When that vessel takes a enemy missile and they can’t fight the fire causing the vessel to go down in the Pacific with the loss of all hands because they spent money on stupidity rather than valuable skills, it is not just the fault of the damage control teams or the shipboard sensor and defense teams.
It is the fault of us, the citizens, who allow people who push this to get elected.
It is the fault of those elected who pursue this inane, wasteful insanity.
It is the fault of flag officers and other leadership who go along to get along so they can get promoted.
And it is ultimately the fault of the captain and crew who are not adequately trained, supported, and prepared to fight the ship, save the ship, and advance the security and interests of this country.
If we are going to have a Navy that is up to date with homosexual, transgender, feminist, and racial sensitivities but is unable to fight the ship, defeat an enemy, or even stay afloat, we damn well shouldn’t have a navy.
I mean that.
Because we aren’t doing ourselves as taxpayers any favors buying multibillion dollar ships that can’t fight and will go down at the drop of a hat, and we SURE aren’t doing those Navy personnel manning them any favors by putting them in crews that are going to ride those ships to the bottom
I can’t wait for battery powered aircraft carriers.....and the aircraft that ride on ‘em......that’s gonna be AWESOME
