Just registered and it was quick but they do require an email dress of couse and also a mobile phone number to text a confirmation code to. Doesn't necessarily need to be your cell phone but you will want it available when you register. I used to use my wife's before I had one.
I hate it. Almost a requirement for life or getting closer to it. I got a cell phone a few months ago, prepaid. I don't really use it so I turned off auto-pay so it will be shut of in a week or so. No reason to spend $30/mth when I can't get a cell signal at home and never use it anyway. I used to use the crap out of the old flip phones back in Ctrl Florida for business purposes. Used it in conjunction with a pager at first and use just a pager before that.
Tech, tech, tech. I've kept up with it pretty well but it's getting crazy.
AND the only damn reason they want to confirm by text is because they can get a LOT of personal data from a cell phone.
The same thing happened to me when I registered for a new email service a while back. I chose something i thought was obscure and unusual, but had to keep adding numbers at the end to get one that was’t ‘used’.
Stuck on the “verify phone number/SMS” bit. Never have gotten the SMS. That’s on the phone but no luck on the web version either. Keeps trying to verify phone number.
I hardly ever use my cell phone, they wouldn’t get much from it. But I don’t want to be getting lots of texts or calls.
I’ve used the text verification thing a bunch of times and it’s always been a one time deal. No further contact.
I’ll think about it. I’m not interested in posting there, just reading; so I’ll see what happens.
Thanks for your help.
I agree with you guys, that is probably the case. The message should have been “Password too weak” not “used” if that was the case. But like you say Jo, that should have been worked out because registration is THE most important feature that just absolutely has to be right.
But strange that it would not take a password, and then after trying a different one, it then did take the original on the second try.
But I guess it is par for the course considering how this has been handled so far. From what I am reading those guys need to address this issue right away. :)
I understand, but too many have capitulated to the concept and I’m not going to do it anywhere. I don’t even do it at my bank, as far as they are concerned I don’t have one.
If we keep capitulating it will be required to get a burger at the drive through or buy gas. This needs to be resisted at every opportunity rather than supporting the concept by falling for it.
Sadly you can’t even read that site without signing up. That limits the sites usefulness in the big world.
Me too. They banned me and won’t let me rejoin Twitter
I need my daily dose of Catturd so Truth it is
Me too
Yup. For me
I've been on Truth Social for two months now. I think it's great. I now have it running on all my computers now that it's open to the Web and no longer Apple platform only.
We are just about to hit 3,000,000 users, which is pretty amazing for a social media site still in its infancy. Lot of interaction there and not just an echo chamber. Lot of lively discussion when you go into the threads. I've already had to block some people.
Following a bunch of Freepers over there.
Of course, I will always be a regular back here as I've been for the past quarter century. But it's great to have a platform friendly to conservatives that will eventually scale to over a billion people.
I'm constantly amazed that they figured out how to sign up here.
I signed up on the web with no problem
I’m wondering if the problem is that I don’t use Windows.
RE: This user name has already been taken.
Use your imagination. I got on in 5 minutes.
It’s on Window PC. You need a cell phone to verify that you aren’t a bot.
bother. Is another tab that appears so you can finish the process.
