Misinformation Board Could Sway Gun Debate
AmmoLand News ^ | 05/16/22 | NRAHQ

In late April, Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), made a bizarre announcement during a congressional hearing that DHS was forming what it called a “Mis- and Disinformation Governance Board.” The statement came in response to a question about how DHS was responding to supposed Russian interference in American elections. Mayorkas said the Board was intended to counter threats to both election security and “homeland security.”

The DHS secretary did not, however, go into detail about what authorities the board would have and how it would exercise “governance” of the information, opinions, and narratives that reach the American people.

But the threats to American freedom and access to a diverse range of opinions and ideas are obvious. And this would be especially true for hotly contested and highly political issues like the right to keep and bear arms.

I’m disappointed there isn’t a bloody outcry from Americans to shut this monstrosity down. I haven’t heard any Republican congress people screaming to shut it down, to review its remit, to review its size, to review what it is doing and is going to do, to review the people who are running it and working for it.

There is nothing to debate about our right to keep and bear arms.

We have the right and we are not giving up the right. Period.

Who would be so stupid as to try and take our firearms?

The misinformation board is being created to misinform the American people. Therefore, the misinformation board has to be contradicted by the truth, which is in dire straits with most of the media condoning the misinformation board.

Yet, even with most of the media being onboard the misinformation board, the truth is still getting out, and the lies and misinformation are having a very hard time sticking with the American people. That’s indicated by how the political debate has the democrats on the ropes, with virtually all polls showing an expected shellacking of the democrats in November.

The truth is getting out, and the truth says that the American constitution is still the law of the land, along with our bill-of-rights which includes the 2nd amendment or our right to bear arms. There is no way that any disinformation board is going to be facing an easier time against our right to bear arms than the democrats have had for over 100 years. The disinformation board is just an extension of the democratic party, and as such, it’s going to be destroyed this year, just like the democratic party is going to be destroyed in November.

Hopefully there will be dozens...if not hundreds...of lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of this Ministry of Truth.

Can’t really wait for this crime ring “board” to be found unconstitutional.

I don’t care about polls...It’s a right...and actual written right. You want to abolish it? Then do it with 3/4’s of the states, 2/3 of congress and the President. Good luck with that. Until then, all gun laws need to be revoked.

The Left can continue to whistle past the graveyard, but the fact of the matter is that Second Amendments rights are the strongest that they have been since 1934.

25 states with Constitutional Carry, and with an anticipated favorable ruling from SCOTUS in the NYRPA vs Bruen, the rest of the May Issue states like Kalifornia and Hawaii are going to become Shall Issue states.

Next up is a challenge to somebody's "assault weapons" ban, and for SCOTUS to take up Kalifornia's 9th circus en banc ruling on 10 round magazines, and we're even further into Second Amendment Freedom.

Amend has a more restrictive meaning than change.

Only defective constitutional clauses are subject to amendment.

A few of them made the obligatory “hey this isn’t right” statements when it was first announced, then it got dropped with a wink and a nod from the uniparty

Exactly how it’s playing out, isn’t it? And that is VERY frightening

It is a monstrous violation of the First Amendment BY the very damned government the First Amendment is meant to control in the first place.

Yup. My profile page has a bunch of quotes from our Founding fathers that speak to that very point (that 2nd amendment is to protect citizens agaisnt all enemies, foreign and domestic)

The uniparty is actively subverting our rights bit by bit. In some cases making it so expensive, ordinary are folks can’t afford to get protection. Our Founding fathers basically stated we have the right to be as armed as our enemies are, but states have thwarted that right by restricting magazines to 7 or so. Who would want firearms with only 7 rounds when our nation gets attacked? Thr enemy certainly will have no restrictions

You really need to read the highly suppressed 1982 Senate report on the 2nd Amendment. I have a paper copy.

https://guncite.com/journals/senrpt/senrpt.html

“The conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept, and wording of the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every major commentator and court in the first half-century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own and carry firearms in a peaceful manner.”

19th century cases
16. * Wilson v. State, 33 Ark. 557, at 560, 34 Am. Rep. 52, at 54 (1878).

“If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the (p.17)penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of constitutional privilege.”

17. * Jennings v. State, 5 Tex. Crim. App. 298, at 300-01 (1878).

“We believe that portion of the act which provides that, in case of conviction, the defendant shall forfeit to the county the weapon or weapons so found on or about his person is not within the scope of legislative authority. * * * One of his most sacred rights is that of having arms for his own defence and that of the State. This right is one of the surest safeguards of liberty and self-preservation.”

18. * Andrews v. State, 50 Tenn. 165, 8 Am. Rep. 8, at 17 (1871).

“The passage from Story (Joseph Story: Comments on the Constitution) shows clearly that this right was intended, as we have maintained in this opinion, and was guaranteed to and to be exercised and enjoyed by the citizen as such, and not by him as a soldier, or in defense solely of his political rights.”

19. * Nunn v. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846).

“’The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.’ The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State.”

And the SCOTUS case that led to the Civil War..

Are Negros citizens...Dred Scott
“It would give to persons of the negro race, who are recognized as citizens in any one state of the Union, the right to enter every other state, whenever they pleased.... and it would give them full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might meet; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to KEEP AND CARRY ARMS wherever they went.”

People know that what the Federal government does is now completely out of their control, so why even ask. I think we are on the path to the breakup of the nation.

You have a paper copy? Those are RARE! I would love to see someone have it scanned and uploaded to Gab or Scribd or somewhere, so people could access it.
