Mel Brooks is considered to be on the short list of comedic legends to have written, created and performed in some of the most enduring classics for the stage and the screen.
One of his most notable pieces of artistry over his seven decade career: the comedy film History Of The World, Part I, finally got a Part II after more than four decades, and has already begun shooting in Los Angeles.
According to Variety, History Of The World, Part II, is a direct sequel to Brooks' classic film, but will come in the form of a variety series, complete with eight episodes for Hulu.
Brooks, who at the age of 95, is onboard for the follow-up, serving as a writer and executive producer, alongside Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, Ike Barinholtz, David Stassen, and Kevin Salter.
Searchlight Television and 20th Television will produce.
'I can't wait to once more tell the real truth about all the phony baloney stories the world has been conned into believing are History!' Brooks said in a statement.
Despite carrying the title Part I, there were originally no plans for a sequel when the film was released in June 1981.
It turns out the title of the movie was a play on the book - The History Of The World, Volume 1 by Sir Walter Raleigh.

In the original film Brooks played five roles: Moses, Comicus the stand-up philosopher, Tomás de Torquemada, King Louis XVI, and

Finally. We get to see the conclusion of “Jews in Space.”
“The jog is up.”
“And Running!”
Wanda Sykes? Pass.
“Horses” Not handcart.
Sorry to nitpick. I memorized every scene and dialogue in that movie. Among my favorites.
Last I saw, Mel Brooks was an virulent Democrat, and therefor will not be allowed to duplicate the humor of 40 years ago.
When the first Star Wars came out that is exactly what was said. No blacks which caused George Lucas to roll his eyes but of course the next movie had Lando to mollify the ancient woke.
Isn't that how Part I ended, with a trailer for Part II, Jews in Space?
Hitler, there was a painter. He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon, TWO COATS!
Absolutely. I purchased “Blazing Saddles” last year, because I could see the day when it could be unavailable.
As ridicule of racism and racists, the movie was highly effective. Laughter and ridicule are two of the best weapons against racism and sexism, and he employed both to great effect.
It is sad to see how many people view “Blazing Saddles” as a racist movie, when it is anything but.
If Mel Brooks plays Joe Biden as Brandon, I will go see it.
Ha! Awesome line.
With the PC and Pedo, Sodomy etc police on full domination I sadly doubt this movie will deliver
You didn’t like gay fight dancing?
Natalie Wood.
Thanks Mel, you were great before you lost your mind, because Wanda Sikes on any project is a no go for me and my household.
Wanda Sykes- IMMEDIATE HARD PASS
The Lord gave us these Fifteen, opps Ten Commandments...
