Ashley Judd took aim at the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade in an Op-Ed honoring her late mother Naomi as she celebrates her first Mothers Day without her.
Judd, 54, penned the Op-Ed for USA Today in which she remembered her late mother Naomi Judd, who reportedly killed herself last month a day before she was set to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
'This Sunday is abruptly, shockingly, my first Mother's Day without my mama,' the actress wrote. 'She died just days before my sister and I could show her again how much we love and honor her.
'It wasn't supposed to be this way. I was supposed to visit her on Sunday, to give her a box of old-fashioned candy, our family tradition,' Judd added. 'Instead, I am unmoored. But my heart is not empty. It is replete with gratitude for what she left behind. Her nurture and tenderness, her music and memory.'
Judd, known for her roles in such movies as 'Kiss the Girls,' 'Double Jeopardy' and 'Heat' also wrote about her mother's journey with mental illness and how despite having motherhood forced on to her, she still did her best.
'Motherhood happened to her without her consent,' Judd wrote. 'She experienced an unintended pregnancy at age 17, and that led her down a road familiar to so many adolescent mothers, including poverty and gender-based violence.'
Judd wrote that her mother 'had to fight like hell to overcome the hand she was dealt, to earn her place in history,' adding: 'She shouldn't have had to fight that hard to share her gifts with the world.'

It was her older sister Wynonna who was the unwanted pregnancy. Naomi got pregnant by the baseball teammate of her high school boyfriend and the boyfriend (Mike Ciminella) felt responsibility for the situation and married her. Ashley was born a few years later the biological daughter of Naomi and Michael.
Wonder how Ashley would feel if on her death bed, her mother's last words were, "I should have aborted you."
So does she like her sister Wynonna? “Mom should have aborted you” doesn’t seem like it would make for a good relationship...
I’ve heard that the first daughter was conceived in rape. I do not have a source.
Ashley is psychotic enough to claim she would’ve welcomed being aborted
The race car driver she used to be married to years ago moved on from this mentally ill barren shrew who wanted him to be daddy to her dogs instead of having kids. He remarried, had kids and a life after leaving this nut case.
“Double Jeopardy” is entertaining too. Ashley can act, but in real life she is annoying. I feel badly for her and her sister - they just lost their mother. Ashley is not behaving appropriately now, though.
Naomi must have always wondered if a good one was aborted. Looking at what Ashley turned out to be could be very depressing.
Garbage, immoral family. Similar to the Bidens.
Ashley had the abortion and freely admits it.....
...( Never heard that Naomi did)
Ashley is pittied....she owns to at least one abortion......she has somehow managed to loose her looks.....she’s all alone.....
....and she’s still hate filled
Poor lost soul
Motherhood is what happens when a woman becomes pregnant.
Even if she kills her baby, she’s still a mother,
Funny how those who wouldn’t play Russian Roulette for fear of having their brains blown out, will play a similar game between their legs because they have the option of having a baby’s brains sucked out...
“You have a choice. Don’t get pregnant.”
______________________________
You are correct, of course. Women have choices at multiple stages or milestones in the acts preceding the birth of a child. But getting pregnant is not even the first decision point. Odd as it sounds . . .
The harpies on “The View” are correctly identifying a prior choice. Don’t have sex with men. Choose the sex strike that Joy Behar(py) recommends.
Before that you can choose to use effective birth control, free in many places.
I’m a great fan of choices in my own (male) life. Advocates on this site could easily list a dozen choices for women, all short of abortion. For those who defend abortion as “a right,” no matter what the ruling of the SCOTUS, they will still have choices galore because the decision if it stands as reported in draft, will not—NOT—ban abortion.
Seems to me that advocates are radical and irrational in fighting for the most radical and irrational choice to avoid an unwanted birth. Not to diminish an unborn life but certainly to diminish the illogic of abortion advocates, it’s the equivalent of removing a splinter from your right hand via an invasive surgery that begins with entering the body from the left hand and extracting through the width of the body. In short, there exist dozens of choices short of ending an unborn life.
“If you don’t want to be a mother don’t have unprotected sex.”
If you do get pregnant, give up the baby for adoption. See? No motherhood
The irony of pushing abortion on Mothers’ Day.
Ashley is, in effect, saying that Naomi should have aborted Wynonna.
Except for rape, the woman has a choice. All she has to do is ignore the millions of sex-obsessed messages she gets from TV, the internet, and the media, stop acting out the law of the barnyard, the jungle, the prairies and the savannas, and let her higher powers of reason dominate.
Unlikely, I know.
Yep, we all know she’s nuts.
Just sing and keep your political wisdom to yourself; you will find you have more fans. Most of your Country fans are conservatives so take the liberal talking points and STFU. Besides you don’t have to pimp for the Country Hall of Fame now that mom’s gone, that was twixed prior to her passing.
Ashley’s not a singer.
