Firefox popped up with an update and having OK'd a couple of 'em in the past, I OK'd THIS one. ALL of my shortcuts are gone, I can't figure out how to input new ones (I had to type in FR to get HERE).
You don't need that menu bar anymore. Icons are used to access favorites and there are setting to bring more tools on the menu bar back. The menu bar itself was is replaced with a hamburger (really is what they call it) icon on the upper left corner that bring more features/settings to the fore. All modern browsers are following this GUI model now.
Well it sure is on mine and I just updated FireFox.
Your settings seem to be jacked up and it wouldn’t be the fault of anything FF did. I promise you, your bookmarks are still there and you can find them if you try.
He then founded the superb Brave browser. I've used it for years and it's my favorite browser of all time, and I go back to Mosaic 1994.
Download Brave . Mo betta .
You should using a session manager plugin so you can save all current open tabs in one shot. Very handy when you go down a bunch of rabbit holes while researching. Plus those saves act as groups of bookmarks.
I gave Firefux the boot when they persecuted Brendan Eich.
After trying many others, I favor Brave.
Firefox is the WORST on this. Not sure why I have continued to use it after years of this kind of nonsense. Better the devil you know?
Oh, dear. I’m old and don’t like changes.
“The Firefox bull dyke lesbian CEO hates Trump and MAGA”
Any web browser that wants you to “log in” cannot be trusted. Firefox lost me when they put in the stupid Pocket thing.
Thinkin’ ‘bout it . . . thanx
You're right, with the update, all you bookmarks are gone and everything is new to look at.
I continue to get pop ups from Firefox to update but I ignore them............
Fair enough but what happens with all the bookmarked websites you currently have on Firefox?
Went to "history" and clicked a two or three day old link to FR and the old Firefox browser was there.
I honestly forget how I did it (settings ?) , but I found a hyperlink to "make Firefox your default" (or something like that.
Shut the damned thing down, re-booted and all is well now.
I have no clue, but preliminary research is that "FreeTestNow" is malware.
It's probably still in here, because I can't find it . . . I'll wait until someone threatens my life because I posted something they clicked and THEY got it.
What I’ve done is go back to my last profile (when things are just the way I want, I go into FF and copy my profile) and then reload it.
Why crowd your screen with a bookmark bar? Firefox has the same File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help in the top left that all Microsoft compatible programs have had for years. Those are even on my old Notepad program from Windows 7 that I transferred over to Windows 10 Home Edition. I believe he got malware. I have my automatic updates off until I have PC Matic take a look.
I got nailed once because Kapersky let a virus slip through. Had to have a pro clean things up and restore. PC Matic is much better.
But I do need it and like it. I don’t want to have to hunt around for what I need.
Brave is fine if they would just fix the hyperfast scrolling issue on laptop touch pads. Awful. Great on my android tablet
I have nothing as I use chrome and never had said problem.
Let’s hope no one suggests this awful suggestion — aw jeez you need to format your hard disk and reinstall all your software. :-)
I tried Brave a couple years ago but its poor/clunky mouse gestures lost me.
I’d try it again if they’ve made a customizable add-on available.
