CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago enjoys plenty of fresh drinking water thanks to its location on Lake Michigan.
Now, Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Office plans to tie the city's brand to the lake by putting Chicago's tap water in cans under the name "Chicagwa."
The cans feature six designs touching on the city's history alongside the Great Lakes.
"From the beginning of my administration, I've made it a priority to ensure that every resident has access to high-quality drinking water," said Mayor Lightfoot. "Together, we've ended water shutoffs for nonpayment and introduced legislation in City Council to protect water affordability. Now it's time to celebrate Chicago's water with a campaign that reminds us of our most precious resource - Lake Michigan."
The cans will be available for free at various events throughout the city this summer as well as at locations around the city, including Real Good Stuff Co., Wiener's Circle, Manny's Cafeteria and Delicatessen, and more.

Since she can’t do anything about gang gun violence and Trump is not in office to blame.
“Works Every Time” Like Colt 45 the gun and the malt.
Traditional city services and public safety are completely gone now. All these big-city Mayors do is engage in graft and celebrityhood.
Any word on a run of Beatlejuice promotional cans?
“Together, we’ve ended water shutoffs for nonpayment”
Since that cost gets passed on to law abiding tax paying citizens, let’s just call it what it is.......REPARATIONS
Exactly. LOL
Use it to make Covfefe.
I bet Chicagwa mixed with Milorganite would be awesome.
Probably used for target practice.
Doesn’t sound very “sustainable” to me.
Nothing is free...
Our fam is very picky...they claim there is slight chlorine taste from the tap, so I put a filter on the kitchen sink faucet. I can't tell the difference between it and the bottled spring water.
This woman needs to be in jail.
Haha, reminds me of the old SNL skit with Bill Murray, “Swill, pumped right out of Lake Michigan”.
I have a white single female renter with a child. She was doing okay, but missed a couple of paychecks because of Covid, so I suggested she apply for Covid rental assistance. She’s now had ten free months courtesy of the taxpayers. She’s in worse financial shape now than when she started.
Yes, she has lots of sad stories. I’m sorry, I’ve heard them all. Here’s my take. If they won’t give ups smoking, drinking or cable to pay their rent, why should I subsidize those things, none of which I use? They’ll repeat, I can’t make the rent. Yes, have you added up the cost of smoking? Based on what I’ve seen it’s close to rent payment right there. (Plus, after I’ve evicted them, I often find evidence of drug use, which I suspect with my present renter. Oh, and she works in a prison.)
It not only doesn’t do any good to give people who make poor choices money, it probably hurt this woman. What they’ll find is that the people thus gifted with money die at a higher rate than they would have without the money. You can get really high with five hundred...and, they’ll lose their job because...lthey’re spending all their time high.
There was a similar program in the Netherlands and another in Sweden. Both were ended early with no explanation. Having read the statements of the people running the program, it wasn’t because they didn’t really think it would help...they did. So there has to be another reason and I find it really curious that the people running the program in both countries refused comment. My guess is from what I’ve seen with the free Covid money is it increased drug use which is not the narrative. The people running the program in the Netherlands honestly thought it would go to education and salads.
Should can the blood of her killed and dead and dying constituents who she has completely failed.
