Has anyone in history ever wanted to workout like Henry VIII? Most people think of him as very out of shape.
Now maybe his executioner got a good workout. [72,000+ served]

Work your abs like Babe Ruth (yes, really) I think his lower back workout was more fun.

No...first editions of Leaves of Grass were published way before he became a Civil War nurse.

Henry VIII was a VERY athletic, fit, and yes, trim man until his accident, which injured one of his legs and kept him from playing tennis, jousting, dancing ( one of his passions and which he was extremely good at and the dances, back then, were really quite some workout )and much of any kind of intense physical activities. He was only quite stout ( FAT! ) in his later years.

Sick joke:
Q: What did Mary, Queen of Scots, get one more of than all of Henry VIII's six wives combined.
A: Axe strokes on the back of the neck.

Re: royal tennis.

Yeah, but the net’s shorter in the middle so it’s easier to hit the ball back.

Henry VIII was a badass until he got injured in a joust. You can actually see his devolution, or could, at a Tower of London display. Until he was 44 and wrecked his leg in an injury that never healed (and probably sustained some internal injuries too) he was darned athletic for his era.

Henry was pretty fit in his early years. He was knocked off his horse in a tournament, and was out cold for several hours. They thought he was dead. Six days later Anne Boleyn miscarried a male child. It would be her last pregnancy. Henry suffered a leg injury from that fall that never healed properly. He may have had diabetes, or even Osteomyelitis. His leg wound festered. He developed leg ulcers that regularly drained pus. It was very painful to have the dressings changed, or to even walk. Many historians also believe his personality changed drastically after his having been knocked out.
My father had Osteomyelitis his whole life. Injured his leg as a small boy, and always had an open, draining wound in his upper arm that would periodically close up, and then re-open somewhere else. They didn't really treat it back then. My mother would wash and change the gauze bandage every night for him.
