If the leaked SCOTUS opinion is authentic (Roberts says it is for what that's worth), then those of us, myself included, who have criticized Trump's SCOTUS appointments ought to attaboy them for trying to get rid of the horrible Roe non-law.
The ones in favor (according to reports) are: Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett. Of course, the last 3 on that list were put there by Trump.
So why “rethink”” the Trump appointments???
That’s Sununu’s fault. He was pushing very hard for him—against the other names being bandied about.
(One good insight from the Bill Barr book.)
Agreed.
But if this does strike down Roe like many of us have wanted for decades, then they've earned our respect.
Amen. A draft opinion is a draft opinion. Nothing has been decided, and it won't be finalized, until the official decision is released by the court. There's no guarantees here.
If this does happen then it will be Trump’s greatest accom.
Well I think it is not time to “rethink” Trump’s judicial appointments, that to me is premature, and instead I think we should hold our fire, for now.
One of the worst scenarios would be the case of Gorsuch and/or Kavanaugh feeling under pressure due to the hoopla over the leak of Alito’s opinion, and change their otherwise expected vote.
Long overdue to rethink 17th Amendment, both the 16th and 17th Amendments.
Not really time to rethink them. They got one thing right. But they stabbed us in the back on stolen elections, and the Covid dictatorship.
“Crazy that a Republican would put Souter on the court. Did that guy even rule for us one time on anything controversial?”
Not so crazy when you consider that a RINO, by definition, is not a Republican.
Not going to give kudos to these 3 backstabbing jerks. When they threw out the Texas lawsuit and refused to hear any of the election challenges or look at any evidence they became worthless to me.
If his appointments were worth a bowl of warm spit, Trump would still be president because of the constitutional violations that took place in the election.
With the insane road that this country (and world) is currently on I’d say there’s at least a decent chance that this is all being orchestrated to further other insanity that the left has planned.
Associate Justice Kentaji Brown Jackson, while succeeding Associate Justice Stephen Breyer, is not involved in this case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization [Mississippi]. No Justice, not present for the oral arguments (December 2021), can vote on a case. Thus comes those decisions with less than 9 Justices [modern era] voting/participating, generally when a Justice has died (Ginzburg & Scalia).
That being said, it is possible she (and staff) had access to this draft. However, being the newcomers, the question is are they so political as to kill their USSC relations so quickly?
“If this does happen then it will be Trump’s greatest accom.”
His other would be flushing all the cockroaches out into the open. Decades of various groups pretending to be for America and the American people exposed as frauds.
“ lets make sure they still vote the way they originally intended”
Oh, OK.
You have them on speed dial?
If they reverse this decision then Roberts shows the SCOTUS for the partisan embarrassment it has become under his watch and the rule of law is whatever the progressives want it to be. The FBI/DOJ up to this point have done massive damage to the legal system top to bottom with their third world behavior, this will end any pretense that we are a country where the rule of law means anything. This will be the end of the jury box. We are about left with only the ammo box sadly...
Nope of course not..but the leak was intended on intimidating one of them to change their vote
Wait until it’s issued, much can change between now and then.
The leak could be successful at changing the outcome.
