President Joe Biden said women have a 'fundamental' right to an abortion and called on American voters to 'elect pro-choice officials this November' in Tuesday morning statement, hours after an explosive report that suggests the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.
He also pledged the White House would be 'ready when any ruling is issued.'
Less than 12 hours earlier, the Democratic leaders of Congress released a joint statement blasting the leaked opinion as an 'abomination' and accusing the high court's conservatives of 'ripping up the Constitution.'
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer then took to the Senate floor and delivered a searing rebuke echoing his Monday night statement with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and announcing the Senate will hold a vote on federal abortion legislation -- after a similar effort tanked earlier this year.
The president's statement began, 'We do not know whether this draft is genuine, or whether it reflects the final decision of the Court. With that critical caveat, I want to be clear on three points about the cases before the Supreme Court.'
'First, my administration argued strongly before the Court in defense of Roe v. Wade. We said that Roe is based on “a long line of precedent recognizing ‘the Fourteenth Amendment’s concept of personal liberty’… against government interference with intensely personal decisions.” I believe that a woman’s right to choose is fundamental, Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned.'

On a political hierarchy of needs there is the economy then everything else. If you can’t feed your family, face food shortages, can’t drive your car and heat your home Abortion isn’t that high on your list. If your relatives are dying of fentanyl and gangs are shooting up your neighborhood you aren’t as concerned about abortion.
Nothing will appease the mob.

A leak? Really? A leak from the Supreme Court no less. I ain’t buying it. Leaks are the lefts preferred tool of choice to spread disinformation and get their message out.
Two things, We don’t even know if this is real. The left “leaked” all kinds of info that was false about DJT. Secondly, if it is a real leak, then the one of the lefty Justices did it and should be removed.
True or not, this is designed to rally the left after everything else has failed. This story will not go away. Abortion rights is their new battle cry until November.

Too bad this decision couldn’t have been after the midterms. I fear that the Democrats will actually gain seats in the House and Senate in November now. I hope I am wrong, but I feel like almost every swing district is now going to go to the Democrats.
If an economic catastrophe you envision occurs then who knows what will happen. But one significant cohort that the GOP had hoped to attract or at least cause it to stay home is now IMO, lost and will come out in force in November. Suburban women.
I hear what you are saying. But why the leak? The activists would take all of those actions after the final official decision was released. Why was it good, from their point of view, to leak it before the final decision is announced?

Pressure the court nd provide an additional 2-3 months to fundraise and attempt to excite their base. If they announced in August as they planned, then no time to fundraise before October when people are already voting.

1. Women can choose to use birth control.
2. Women can choose to insist that their partner use a condom.
3. Women can keep their legs closed.
