Killing of Chinese food deliveryman may have stemmed from duck sauce dispute (Queens, NYC)

He may have been killed in a simmering beef that started over duck sauce.

A longtime co-worker of the Chinese food deliveryman fatally shot in Forest Hills on Saturday told The Post that the disgruntled customer wanted for questioning by cops in the slaying first hassled the joint over the amount of duck sauce it gave him.

One night late last year, “The customer came in and ordered some food,” recalled Great Wall restaurant worker Soi Chung, 70. “He left with the food but then came back and said, ‘It’s not enough.’ He came to the counter and wanted more food, more duck sauce.

“They had an argument, and the boss said, ‘It’s enough already,’ ” said the employee, who has worked at the Queens eatery for 20 years. “The guy left the restaurant and later came back and threw the duck sauce, everything, all over the place. So the police came and took a report, but the guy was gone.”

Chung said the irate customer only got more daring and dangerous.

“After that, sometimes, he’d be waiting around outside,” Chung said. “He’d say to the boss and to the delivery guy and to one of the chefs, ‘I remember you. I remember you.’

Chung and another employee said the 50-year-old angry patron even pulled a gun on staffers in January and vandalized their cars, including slashing the tires on the manager’s car.

Chung said the harassment ended when the workers reported the gun incident to cops.

Police are now probing whether tragic hard-working immigrant Zhiwen Yan, 45, was targeted by the customer, with detectives seeking to question the man, according to law enforcement sources.

Boy howdy!

It’s amazing how many FReepers “know” NYC!

Oh, and this was Queens, not Manhattan.

Gotta apologize.
Didn’t realize who I was replying to.

Obviously a waste of time for us both.

A friend of mine was in the Philippines and his two clients got into a heated argument in the restaurant. He couldn't understand it of course but asked the one client about it later.

“He say white dog taste better, but everyone know black dog better!”

“Wait - we were eating dog!!??”
.
.
.
“No - we see dog outside window!”

Now I am confused.
You were correct, as I was thinking Manhattan.

Some folks are touchy about their duck sauce.

I’d kill for a good pesto but I’m not that picky about my duck sauce.

It’s higher than 100th St. That’s a description of the perp.

It's 108th Street in Forest Hills, not Manhattan. Forest Hills is one of the better areas of Queens.

I buy duck sauce at Aldi by the bottle. That way I don’t have to get upset if the carry out doesn’t send enough. Plus, I make my own Chinese food, too, so I’m covered.

When I lived in Fort Worth a woman called the police because the Chinese restaurant didn’t put enough shrimps in her rice. She got charged for that one.

I hope the family of the dead man can sue the animal’s estate.
