I wonder if Russia thinks they can survive a nuclear war with the west.
Is the west ready, it looks like Russia is ready?
The Moscow subway is a bomb shelter.
I never understood why someone would want to survive a nuclear war. I would be happy to go in the blast, quick death and don’t have to live through the horrible aftermath.
“Is the west ready, it looks like Russia is ready?”
Our strategy is to lose 90% of our population and then get on with fighting the Russians.
Their strategy is to lose about 30% of their population and then start to rebuild.
Is it any surprise that the billionaires have their bunkers in New Zealand and are likely there right now?
But I know, Putin is a bad guy, so why not start WW3...right?
I remember reading about this 30+ years ago.
That’s not fair..we are suppose to be wiped out by global warming..?
Well I’m sure the American elite class is ready with either their own personal bunkers or an escape hatch to one in New Zealand or Patagonia, but the rest of us are screwed. Probably won’t matter because the ensuing nuclear winter caused by the huge amount of debris generated will kill anyone who manages to survive the blast itself.
Why would the Russians want to use nuclear weapons?
The Soviet Union was willing to use nuclear weapons to advance the cause of communism.
What cause does Russia have that would make them want to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine?
They apparently weren’t ready for a conventional war....................
I think Russia would handle a nuclear war better than we would. Russians are used to suffering. It's in their blood. They've seen cities destroyed, civilians killed by the millions. The siege of Leningrad lasted 800 days. They were eating their dead.
We've never suffered in war. We send soldiers off faraway to fight and never have to witness any of it. We are a soft, unserious people and we take our comforts and conveniences for granted. One nuclear strike and half the population would have a psychological meltdown.
A few nukes in earth penetrating mode spaced around the vicinity of Moscow will render those bunkers creme de la creme crematoria.
Sit on the roof and die instantly. Or hide in a bunker and die later, slowly. Your choice.
Dr. Strangelove: I would not rule out the chance to preserve a nucleus of human specimens. It would be quite easy...heh, heh...at the bottom of ah...some of our deeper mine shafts. Radioactivity would never penetrate a mine some thousands of feet deep, and in a matter of weeks, sufficient improvements in dwelling space could easily be provided.
Muffley: How long would you have to stay down there?
Dr. Strangelove: Well let’s see now ah...cobalt thorium G....Radioactive half-life of uh,...I would think that uh... possibly uh... one hundred years.
Muffley: You mean, people could actually stay down there for a hundred years?
Dr. Strangelove: It would not be difficult, Mein Führer! Nuclear reactors could, heh...I’m sorry, Mr. President. Nuclear reactors could provide power almost indefinitely. Greenhouses could maintain plant life. Animals could be bred and slaughtered. A quick survey would have to be made of all the available mine sites in the country, but I would guess that dwelling space for several hundred thousands of our people could easily be provided.
Muffley: Well, I, I would hate to have to decide...who stays up and...who goes down.
Dr. Strangelove: Well, that would not be necessary, Mr. President. It could easily be accomplished with a computer. And a computer could be set and programmed to accept factors from youth, health, sexual fertility, intelligence, and a cross-section of necessary skills. Of course, it would be absolutely vital that our top government and military men be included to foster and impart the required principles of leadership and tradition. Naturally, they would breed prodigiously, eh? There would be much time, and little to do. Ha, ha. But ah, with the proper breeding techniques and a ratio of say, ten females to each male, I would guess that they could then work their way back to the present Gross National Product within say, twenty years.
Muffley: But look here doctor, wouldn’t this nucleus of survivors be so grief-stricken and anguished that they’d, well, envy the dead and not want to go on living?
Dr. Strangelove: No, sir...excuse me...When they go down into the mine, everyone would still be alive. There would be no shocking memories, and the prevailing emotion will be one of nostalgia for those left behind, combined with a spirit of bold curiosity for the adventure ahead! [involuntarily gives the Nazi salute and forces it down with his other hand] Ahhh!
Turgidson: Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn’t that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?
Dr. Strangelove: Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious...service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.
Russian Ambassador: I must confess, you have an astonishingly good idea there, Doctor.
Better have 10,000 years of food and water in the shelter because it won’t be safe to come out for a while.
I am kind of wondering how many are real and how many are on paper only?
You know, the ones, where the money for them build the bunkers in NZ or villas in France.
Maybe some of the Russian trolls here can enlighten me?
They may know.
Pretty scary ....Putin has much less to lose and seems ready to die. It’s not incineration I fear it’s the mad max displacement we may experience. Imagine instantly scrambling for food and survival. I’m not ready I’ll admit it.
Damn it i think we are going to war. The last few years may be looked at as a cakewalk in comparison. For God’s sake we are stuck with biden or his people at the helm...not good.
And what will they come OUT to?
