After turning 2 years old, my son, Avishai, started demanding that he only wear tractor shirts, and my mind spiraled into darkness. I catastrophized worst-case scenarios, imagining a world where he fell for everything stereotypically manly. I envisioned him on a football field, barreling through mega-muscled opponents. Imagined him waxing a sports car on a warm summer day. I have always judged other guys who seemed boxed in by masculinity, but 3 ½ years ago, when I became a stay-at-home dad, my bias skyrocketed. My son was born in Albany, New York, on the bedroom floor of the apartment I shared with my wife. Minutes after his arrival, we took turns cuddling him against our bare chests. While the midwife and her assistant cleaned up, my wife, always one to joke, even soon after giving birth, bragged that she had a connection to our new baby that I could never attain because men couldn’t bond with babies like women could.

If you live in Israel, Avishai is a beautiful and out of the box name. Very uncommon but my first cousin (F) just married a guy (M) named Avishai.
It loosely translates to “Fathers Gift” or “Gift of my father”
I remember how much my son loved trains when he was young and airplanes flying over.
It’s normal. Not imposed.
Maybe I’m just a city boy but first off what the hell is a “tractor shirt”? I ain’t never heard of such.
He’s omega. I’m surprised he can achieve an erection.
It’s probably 2”, but still.
You should get down on your knees and Thank God he is more intelligent than you are…
You’re not special, dude. You’re just easily manipulated by the media and a desire for people to think you’re “cool.”
Maybe lay off the soy lattes for a while, hmmmm?
Yep and that will only make him more manly.
I remember getting into fights daily at our bus stop as a kindergartner with all of the blond older boys. I was the only one with dark hair and an easy target.
In about two years after a baseball bat assault on a 12 year old - nobody messed with me.
No wonder the articles at the original source no longer accept comments. I can just imagine that amount of derision heaped on this guy.
(and my mind spiraled into darkness)
We call that Leftist Liberalism.
The irony in this piece is epic. The author’s father tried his best to raise his son to be a man, something the author could never quite achieve, and his father finally accepted that fate when the author gave up working and became a stay at home dad (NTTAWWT). Now the author has a son of his own, who he is trying to mold into a sissy beta-male in his own image. In fact, he has made it his full time job. But he is again failing.
Not only will the boy grow up to be a man, but just like his grandfather, he will eventually understand that his father is a beta-male pussy, and will always be such. It’s like a twisted soy-soaked version of Harry Chapin’s “Cat’s in the Cradle” playing out.
Father and son are both likely on the spectrum.
Always wanted a 1969 with a 396. Among other cars
Watched a guy almost put a 1969 with a 427 through the side of a boat.
That was around 1976 or so.
20 years, hell. 20 weeks at the most. I would say 20 days the way things are going.
I’m shocked this guy claims to have a wife.
I suspect father and son are both on the spectrum.
Who, do you think, is Jay Deitcher's role model?
"I immediately cut my hours at my social work gig"
"I began attending mommy-and-me playgroups"
"I grimaced at anyone driving a Ford car, the John Wayne of automobiles."
"Felt ill if someone mentioned a wrench or another tool."
"My dad was an interior decorator"
"my father spent nights sitting at the kitchen counter beautifying his nails."
"My body spiraled into panic any time I attempted manual labor."
So punchable!
