A 13-year-old boy from Minnesota will soon earn his bachelor's degree from college - with a major in physics and a minor in math - and has been accepted into the University of Minnesota's Physics PhD program.
Now his parents are trying to figure out how to pay for it.
Elliott Tanner, known as a profoundly gifted child, is maintaining a 3.78 grade point average at the University of Minnesota and is participating in undergraduate research while also tutoring classmates.
He wants to be a high-energy theoretical physicist and eventually a professor of physics at the university, however, tuition costs for the graduate program have been an obstacle, his mother, Michelle Tanner, said.

sheesh...why do you have to make posts like this?
Really, colleges should help American kids who are graduating at a young age, instead of importing foreign people...
“Kid’s so smart, let him figure it out.”
You made my day with that one.
Post 38, again and again.
“See post 38. It was me with the geography problem.”
Ah, got it.
Mark Twain had an interesting observation. He said, “We have wars so that Americans can learn geography.”
Seems like the parents might be exploiters. He has well-developed PR; websites and an imdb entry, plenty of local press, Go Fund Me begging. Some people at U of M might feel something isn’t quite right.
By taking legitimate STEM courses......
If he is so smart why can’t he figure a way to make the money he needs—or find a sponsor who can pay his was A TRump or a Musk?
He's sure to attract only the hottest chicks. After all, the hormones haven't kicked in yet so they'll be "safe" going out with him.
Change his name to “George Floyd”.
Mostly because of gooberheads shaking their "I'M SUPERIOR TO YOU!" stick in my face.
That's why.
Most grad students have to do some teaching of undergrads to pay for their graduate work. The undergrads might not like being taught by a “junior high schooler”.
The best part is that she can divide into halves and quadrants. N/S, E/W,... and the quadrant directions that I apparently have difficulty with.
Egypt is not in NW Africa.
That would be a good start.
Based on some of the feminine-looking images in the news report, maybe “trans” would be a better option.
No need to do anything else.
Elliot is a modern, gender neutral name.
Hormone suppression drugs and surgery are not mandatory to claim the status.
And, like that recently “converted” gay singer, he could claim to “de-trans” after a sexual encounter with a woman (human adult female) - but only after he finished his PhD Physics program.
However, only if he wanted to. Gender identification is such a fickle and transitory thing. (Pun intended.)
“The best part is that she can divide into halves and quadrants.”
Teach her basic navigational coordinates (latitude and longitude; degrees, minutes, seconds). I learned that very early from my father, who had been a pilot in WWII, as well as a recreational sailor. I’d spend hours plotting out famous ship wrecks, etc. Lots of fun. She will likely enjoy that, especially when she associates it with going places, the more exotic, the better.
I assume he didn’t go to day care at week 6.
Spend 2 hrs and 19 minutes a day gaming.
Take meds for ADHD.
“his mother, Michelle Tanner” needs to relax. Simply send the brilliant kid to a school with a good scholarship like numerous other brilliant kids.
We need new government programs and taxation. And give up our petroleum based vehicles to fix this problem
