Former Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn says it's time to stop sending Ukraine weapons
The Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson ^ | April 20, 2022 | Emerald Robinson

On Wednesday, appearing on the LindellTV with Emerald Robinson, former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, advocated for ending U.S. military aid to Ukraine to protect them from the Russian invasion.

"Let me give you my judgment on where we are right now," said Flynn. "I think that anybody that anyone that continues to put fuel on a blazing fire, meaning more weapons, more ammunition, more of the sort of warfare-type stuff that's thrown into this fire is going to keep this fire blazing for a long, long time. And I think that doesn't benefit anybody."

Quit shipping the arms to kill Russians when the Russian death toll equals American casualties sustained in Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf war, GWOT etc.

What price must the Ukrainian people and the global poor pay for continuing this war? We must destroy Ukraine in order to save it.

The World Bank's David Malpass told the BBC that a "human catastrophe" of hunger is on the horizon. Rising food prices are pushing millions into poverty and "lower nutrition", he said

In Ukraine, some civilians trapped for weeks in the besieged city of Mariupol have been able to leave, but officials say there were far fewer than hoped. Ukrainian negotiators say they're ready to hold talks in Mariupol to try to save the lives of those stuck there.

For Russia to bleed out in Ukraine.

So how much Ukrainian blood must be shed to achieve this objective? Using Ukrainians as proxies is criminal.

The fact that wikipedia and google are giving us ads to “donate to ukraine” makes me highly suspect of the nefarious end game.

This war will not end soon.

Ukraine interfered in our election in 2016. The Ukrainian Ambassador to the US wrote an editorial advocating Trump’s defeat. Fact: Ukraine was the biggest donor to the Clinton Foundation.

“I think that when Putin has sufficiently consolidated his hold on Donbas and Mariupol he’ll simply declare victory, occupy and annex those regions. There’s no way Ukraine will be able to recover those areas once they are effectively part of Russia. In a few years Putin will make another attempt on Ukraine.”

I kind of agree. He may make one more feint towards Kiev after he gets Eastern Ukraine under control with little intention of entering that urban insurgent meat grinder only to put pressure on Zelensky to agree to more of the terms he wants to end his “special operation”

Agreed. It seems to me when news here gets slow you know one of 3 will show up. Guess it’s Flynn’s turn.

“Does that include withdrawing from Crimea, which was annexed in 2014 and held a plebiscite that overwhelming favored rejoining Russia?”

See how that works? A powerful bully takes your house, occupies it, and then asks you if you are okay with it (all the while that bully is looking at your family, while brandishing a gun). Are you going to tell that bully “F**k off! Get the hell out of my house!”; or, are you going to say, “Mmmmkay; but be gentle with my wife and daughters.” Crimea had no real choice in the matter.

It’s interesting that the international community and the UN do not recognize or accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Why do you think that is?

“The separatist Eastern provinces have been fighting for over 8 years against the central government, which has had no control over these provinces since 2014.”

Those separatist provinces started a civil war, which is usually what happens when an area denounces its government and declares its intention to align itself with another country. They didn’t just declare autonomy; they declared civil war.

“Ukraine signed the Minsk Agreement in 2015 that promised to give these provinces more autonomy. The Ukraine never implemented the agreements.”

Ukraine concluded they were rigged. Russia had troops in Ukraine, and along with separatist forces surrounded Ukrainian units; and when the Russian forces did not withdraw back to Russia, Ukraine cried Foul! Russia said it (Russia) was not a signatory to the Minsk Agreements and thus was not bound by their conditions. Ukraine said, “Screw this!”

This is a civil war. And Russia picked a side and physically and kinetically joined in. The West picked a side, as well, and sent arms and assistance (but committed no troops, unlike Russia).

Russia is in the wrong in this. It invaded a smaller and weaker neighboring country that posed no real threat.

And that is the game in a nutshell.

Why do Americans feel the need to wallow in cheap sentimentality about military operations and the members of the armed forces. I remember telling one of my mothers female friends that while I was a member of the US armed forces I was not a ‘boy’ and it was deeply insulting to be so referred to, A boy means the military personnel are callow, weak, silly and immature. Soldiers engage in the most consequential actions a nation can perform. Organized acts of mass violence and destruction against another nation or people. The military executes the armed and violent will of the nation it serves. For that reason only the most impelling reasons should call for its use. Once ordered imtp action the armed forces kill and destroy n the name of the nation. Soldiers are the nation's professional killers and as such are not the Salvation Army with guns, or the Peace Corps with tanks and attack helicopters. The comfortable lies, and much Americans love to believe that some how American soldiers don't really kill and destroy and are just sort of Boy Scouts in a different uniform are repulsive and tell more about the citizenry's desire to be lied to so they can deny their country is actually really doing violent things to other nations to defend the presumed interests of those prefer the comfortable lie,

well said.
the US should send nothing beyond humanitarian aid and that should be limited. It’s not our civil war.

“I thought he ‘won’ ? That’s all we hear everyday. Ukrain is winning. Kicking russian ass.”

How can he have “won” in one sentence, and then in a following sentence, he is just “winning?” He either won or he is winning.

Of course, the reality is neither, and I have not seen any reports or stories that have said Ukraine has won, or is winning. I’ve heard some reports that it is holding its own, but can’t hold out much longer.

“It’s a black hole boarder”

I assume you mean “border,” and not someone living in your cellar.

“We have a boarder too in case no one has noticed”

So, it does seem you mean “border.”

“We have actual proof of systemic rape , rape trees.
We have actual chem warfare casualties, fentanyl overdoses all time high. If we don’t start protecting ourselves first we won’t be able to help anybody else.”

I agree.

“Priorities. Everyone has them. Some are destructive and dumb. Some are responsible and smart.”

Again, I agree.

“Oh, and TalyBiden just took our strategic oil reserves and instead of giving it to us he sold it to Europe, probably got a 10% cut off the top.”

I was not aware he sold it to Europe. But it wouldn’t surprise me.

“America First.”

I agree.

“Europe Last.”

I don’t know about LAST; but certainly after us.

Well, an attack on Taiwan is NOT an attack on the United States, there are no treaties that even suggest such a thing, and no President of the United States would dare to interfere in the repossession of what the US has recognized as a part of China officially since 1983 and realistically since 1972.

We made a promise to Ukraine, if they gave up their nukes we would be there to protect them. They are not asking for our boots on the ground, they are asking for the tools to fight Putin with. If we had not convinced them to give up their nukes they wouldn’t be in this trouble today.

I’m certainly on Ukraine’s side in this battle, but I’m also starting to wonder if Zelenskyy isn’t playing us. We keep sending him hundreds of millions of dollars in weaponry and the next week or two he wants more! I’m naturally suspicious anymore

Unlike a lot of parts of the internet and social media, FR isn't uniform in its opinions about the war in Ukraine. I think diversity of opinion is good and I don't want to shout anyone down because I disagree with them.

Ukraine lost a sizeable chunk of its territory (Crimea) to Russia in 2014 (while Russia was hosting the Olympics). Russian-speaking areas of eastern Ukraine have been under occupation by Russian military forces and irregular militias sympathetic to Russia since that point as well. For some reason, America didn't see fit to send any weapons to Ukraine in all of those years, even though it was clear that the Russians had already invaded Ukraine. There were stern warnings, I'm sure letters were sent and diplomats demarched, but it was all amounting to nothing.

This year Russia decides to take another step into Ukraine. Now we are all gung ho about fighting the Russians. This is year eight of the invasion. What changed? Why the urgency now? Who benefits? Those are absolutely fair questions.

Compared to those years, I think the most glaring thing is that we're no longer wasting taxpayer dollars sending war materiel to Afghanistan, so the defense industrial welfare state needs a new tit to suckle from, and Ukraine just happens to be both willing and available. The Ukraine social media narratives are filled with fraudulent reporting and a lack of context, which benefits simps in the US and Western Europe who want to see more of their tax dollars getting thrown at a war that Ukraine cannot win on its own and that NATO countries are unwilling to join.

So what's left to do? Asymmetric war of attrition is the only thing Ukraine is promising. Slowly bleed Russia dry, except they've been saying that's what they were going to do from day one and that tactic only works if the Russian leadership is threatened by a populace weary of war. That's nowhere near happening. The war machine will never run out of other people's money to spend on weapons that will spill other peoples' blood. If the spigot were turned off, yes Russia would get its demands, but what's Ukraine's play for doing anything but surrendering more slowly and at a much steeper cost?

I agree with Mike Flynn for America to stop sending weapons to Ukraine.

We should be sending thousands of zealous American Democrats to Ukraine to keep up the brutal fighting against the dastardly Russians.

Democrats believe in the cause of Ukraine. Let them shed their blood for the cause.

Democrats can be the cannon fodder needed in Ukraine.
