“But my pittie is the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone.”

I always cringe when I see people posing their babies with dogs. Dogs are animals. Even the tiniest poodle.

I have had 3 cats send me to the Urgicare over the years. Cat bites are the worst! Little buggers with needles for teeth...get an infection from them in a hot second!

Last stinker was in 2020 for a behavior consult. Bit 4 times through my blue jeans before I even walked in the door. Owner was there and we used a laundry basket to skuttle the little bugger to the bedroom. Seems he had an affinity of attacking people at the door.

I was raised with very loyal German Shepherds. Best friends ever.

Btw, mine drink filtered water and sleep on Italian leather. Some of the worst most vicious deadly species happened to be humans.

“Need I Look?”

Usually reserved for Amish threads. Now applies to Pittie threads.

“When first responders arrived, they weren’t able to enter the home for 37 minutes because the dogs were so aggressive.”

GUN THEM DOWN.

Complete malfeasance. They had a tool to save her life, and end the attack. Those cops should be ashamed.

“A representative told CBS News they (cops) were ‘only able to see Jacqueline Durand’s legs and were not immediately aware of the extent of her injuries’.”

So being only somewhat injured and being prone and non-responsive wasn’t enough to get the cops to do their duty and kill those two dogs.

American Stratfordshire terrier. A typical terrier that requires close training. As with most terriers it is a loyal loving companion

We have golden retrievers.
The only risk factor is entrapment in shedded dog hair.

I was charged by a pitbull a month or so ago while walking for exercise. I knew not to run and he stopped about 18 inches in front of me. The vile beast would not give up. He stood there snarling at me. I hit him so hard with my cane that I broke his jaw. I called the HPD and they came with animal control.

If there was more than one dog I’d have been in real trouble

The “German Shepherd mix” in the story appears to be GSD/Belgian Mallinois mix. Very capable working dogs, with a lot of energy. I’ll bet it got no exercise.

Mallinois

Like pits, the breed has become a victim if it’s own popularity. I tend to look on herding dogs in the hands of “families” the way that many people look upon pits. I don’t really trust them, or rather, trust them to revert to form when stressed.

Nice early European native-born brother has two pitbulls. We don’t talk to each other much at all but years ago and before he got the dogs, when I was talking about all the pit bull attacks that I have read on the internet and how they aren’t to be trusted with kids especially, he acted like I was the crazy one.

As an EMT, I cared for a woman who had been attacked by a German Shepherd she had just adopted. She was a strong young woman who managed to throw it off and shut it in a room, but she said it went straight for her throat- she had bites on collarbone, arms, stomach, face, buttocks.

Thank God she had decided to work with it first at a stable rather than at home with her two small children. But she kept shouting for the cops to shoot it, just shoot it, even though it was locked in. That dog was euthanized, I am sure.

And the worst nightmare for anyone they perceived to be a threat to you, I’m sure.

Could it be that all of the “dog killer” criticism got to them? Certainly seems to have made some of them gun-shy when dealing with blacks.

Safety First for the cops. 37 minutes before they “felt” comfortable to enter the home.

If there was ever justification for a cop shooting a couple of dogs, this was it. She could have bled out and died while they dithered around.
