If they hadn’t hyped it up, 2019, 2020, 2021 would have been years like any other year.

Covid is literally taking something which occurs all the time, but which people are not aware of, and making them “sensitive to the topic.”

And then it gets comedic. If you think you’re protecting yourself from a 1 micron virus that can last days outside the body, is transmissible by air and touch, you are fooling yourself. The measures required to protect yourself from exposure are so extreme you’d have to live in a bubble.

But... it was an election year. So what would have ended like Zika, West Nile, or bird and swine flu, became a huge issue.

What is the appeal of being crammed on a boat with 1000’s of other people for a ‘vacation’?

It is the most luxurious, relaxing, romantic and amazing way to travel, period.

Unless you have a specific destination in mind to explore and need to spend extended time there, there is simply no better way to travel.

"We have got to get on with our lives, and let the chips fall where they may. -Tom"

I agree! And life is so short. I am already 82! where did the time go?? Since I and my wife both love cruises we got vaxxed and now enjoyed 4 cruises since September 2021, and 5th cruise sails next Saturday. The Saturday cruise on RCCL's Mariner of the Seas will be our 42nd cruise. There have been zero adverse effects from the jabs to either one of us.

Cruise prices right now are cheap and ships are only about half full. That helps avoid long lines and crowds.

It doesn’t even say what symptoms they had when they got tested. Why get tested for the sniffles, is it required on the ship?

I have some Spring allergies. Why do I have the feeling if I were tested on a ship I might end up in COVID prison?

No vaccines are 100% effective.

how much does google charge for each app

“Save us” from what?
Millions get the flu and common cold every year, recover and get right along with their lives. It's never bothered me much.
I don't need “saving” from covid.
Like most of the population, I probably already have natural immunity which is vastly superior to any fake “vaccine “ from Pfizer.
Stop spreading Covid FUD and disinformation to try and scare people.

Caipirabob you are so right. My 42nd cruise sails on Saturday and I have enjoyed all 41 cruises before except one which was a smaller ship and we ran into a bad storm.

Speaking of people crammed together, that happens inside a closed titanium tube called airplane with people sitting shoulder to shoulder. One of my recent cruise on Oasis of the Seas ship, it was half a mile walk from cabin to dining room and back. That ship had a living forest on ship with 1000+ trees and bushes and birds live there permanently! Many people have no concept what a large cruise ship is like and how much space there is.

Weren’t there instances of outbreaks on cruise ships long before COVID?

Ships have always been floating petri dishes. Sure, lets go on a vacation. An exciting dare devil vacation. So, it’s a toss up for a cruise or setting up camp on the hospital covid floor. Oh, heck, lets do both.

Yes, there were Norovirus outbreaks.

Some cruise lines have resorted to disinformation about the outbreaks. See below. -Tom

One can travel without being like cattle at the ports to enter a country for a 1/2 day. If I’m going to go thru customs, I’ll be hanging out for much longer. I refuse to even go to all inclusives. That’s how much I dislike organized tourism.

I prefer my independence and while being a tourist, do not want to be in an organized tourist environment. But to each there own. Many people love them. To me it’s like a floating city. Not my thing.

Some friends went on a cruise a few weeks ago (in the Pacific) and the husband died suddenly of a heart attack (early 70s). I haven’t spoken to his widow but I’m sure they must have been vaccinated, perhaps also boosted, to go on the cruise. I don’t know if he had any history of heart trouble.

It’s sad how they moved the couple from a balcony suite to a quarantine room. The claustrophobia in me would have lost it. Don’t understand why they couldn’t just leave them in their room.

“ They went from a room with a balcony view to quarantine quarters for seven days”

I don’t trust the water and ice storage onboard ships.

“You already have to be tested to get on” True. Then some people from the boat go ashore and return with stuff to pass along.

More concerned that cruisers have lost their last-best immunity to the norovirus and that a norovirus++ variant is about to emerge.
