PORTLAND, Ore. — Frustrations are high as Portland moves closer to building six Safe Rest Villages.
Neighbors near two of the sites reached out to KATU to talk about what they call "failed civic engagement." In Lents, homeowner Joe Papasadero is outraged.
"I've had my gas stolen just this last month -- four times," said Papasadero.
Papasadero does not care if he comes off as indelicate when he talks about Portland and its problems.
"It used to be called City of Roses. I call it the city dump," said Papasadero.
He says you can call him a NIMBY because that's exactly how he feels -- not in my backyard.
"They've tried to break into my house. I've got cameras. I've got lights all over the place. And I feel like I've got to make a compound where I'm living," said Papasadero.
Papasadero lives in Lents, about 150 yards away from a future Safe Rest Village. He says homeless people have been camping on the site on and off for several years.
Joe Papasadero says he's bracing for more crime and chaos. He says promises of structure, security, and a no-camping buffer zone around the Safe Rest Village won't change his mind.
“Take them and put them on Kate Brown's yard. Put them in Ted Wheeler's neighborhood, but don't bring them out and put them on my goddam property."

Dem pesky “homeless” people. There’s a reason they’re “homeless” and it isn’t society’s fault.
Well, it’s tough out there, since there are strict limits to what we are permitted to do, to deal with homeless problems.

Joe was quiet when antifa was burning down Portland.
Believe it not, we even have a homeless problem in Alaska and it is getting worse.
Portland is the city where new age YOUNG hippies go to retire. The city of where save-the-everything dilettantes can play like they know how to build ‘tiny houses’ and then crash on somebody else’s property - just watch their videos.
Other famousitites? (yeah, I made that up): 1960s infrastructure, bums and Antifa/BLM with rest camps (for in-between protests). Weather? Yeah...my daughter lived there for three years.... her big remembrance? “That never happens in Portland.” Portlandia wasn’t wrong about people in the park chasing a spot of sunlight.
The best thing about Portland was that they once made a Syfy TV series based there - “Grimm”..... Oh! and that TV series about the “Librarians” used one of their bridge base structures as the new site of the “library.”
The city sucks, its mayor sucks and the anarchist demonstrators who infest it sucks. It’s beyond hope.
I hope that makes it clearer why city leaders (Democrats) are so willing to have vagrants infest their cities.
How many failed social experiments is this now? Every experiment they do ends in bickering and backbiting- and its usually over the fact that someone isnt calitalizing on the situsion quite the way they had invisioned. You would think that the left woild,get it by now thst it won’t ever work but nope, they keep plodding ahead expecting a different result everytime.

People who don’t live in Oregon may not know that Oregon elections are probably the most dirty in the country.
All mail in voting for more than 20 years. Illegals can get DL. Anyone who gets a DL gets a voter registration form. Can be done online, without proof of citizenship or anything.
We have stolen elections here.
