I remember not being able to sleep one night so I got up and turned on the TV and he was on. I had to restrain myself to keep from waking up everyone else with my laughter.

Saw him about five years ago now at a comedy club here in the Chicagoland area.
Honest to God, he had the entire place laughing the whole time! He never 'broke character" once and there were times I was laughing so hard and so much I had tears coming out of my eyes and struggled to just breathe.
SO FUNNY!! Went well beyond the time the show was scheduled to go, was very generous with his time and appreciative of the crowd too. Wish I could've seen him again.
He had so many great jokes and one liners, the one he opened with that just set the tone for how the night was going to go was "my boss is a Jewish bastard!"
It just got better and better from there.
RIP Gilbert Gottfreid.

I first noticed Gottfried when he and Rhonda Shear hosted USA UP! All Night. It featured B movies that were so bad they were actually funny. The hosts made jokes during the breaks.
Guess I didn't have much of a life back then!

One of the greats and Gilbert was a comedian who I had no idea what his politics were. That’s is rare among comedians now and the reason why comedy is almost dead today.
Gilbert tried to make you laugh and not indoctrinate the audience.

Yeah, he would say how much her show sucked. They usually showed the same movies - maybe one would rotate out.
