Father Daniel Nolan of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) is no stranger to controversy. His controversial nature was on full display as offered his sermon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Littleton, Colorado. In this sermon, he reminded the congregation that there are two sides to every issue regarding the Ukraine War. While he did not ask the congregation to choose a side, he did ask them to fully consider the facts and circumstances jumping on the bandwagon promoted by the world.

“We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

In September 2020, Father Nolan’s superiors banned him from posting videos online after stating Catholics need not follow draconian coronavirus mask mandates from their bishop or governor. In the ensuing outrage, the point of his message was missed entirely: he seemed to want people to exercise control over their own health and not to let others do it for them.

Ukraine’s sin versus Putin’s Carnage

Last month, in Father Nolan’s sermon, which was recorded privately by someone and posted to YouTube (it has since been removed), his true message may have been overwhelmed and missed by the liberal anger.

He spoke about the entire world running in outrage to hate Vladimir Putin and referred to it as a “rush to condemn.” He is concerned about the lack of balance in response to the invasion of Ukraine and the lack of media truth.

Father Nolan once again has become a point of controversy, becoming the antithesis of the world’s actions.

Many villages have been destroyed and over 1 million ppl were forced to leave Ukraine because it wasn’t safe to live there due to the snipers, land mines, and bombs. The Azov Battalion, under the auspices of the govt in Kiev, killed approximately 14,000 civilians, including more than 250 children, during that time.

You might wanna research an issue before taking a stand, especially when it’s this murky and complicated.

Over the past month, I have had Christian conservative Russian* and American friends on the ground across UA, and they have witnessed large scale civilian targeting and death of UA civilians.

Some of these have also come under fire in multiple locations, trying to evacuate people and deliver water and food. Some of those (including Russian nationals), who were trying to help, were hunted and killed by Russian soldiers, as well as Russian backed mercenaries.

In these cases, this was Russian killing well marked Russian aid workers, and not merely Russian fighters killing Ukrainians. ​

UA took roughly 2100 UA Guard and ordered the integration of the infamous 350-400 Azov NAZI BN.

You can argue it was wrong to integrate the “Azov BN” into a new “stood-up” Bde, but you cannot argue this is a neo-Nazi Bde. Secretary of the Union of Committees of Soldiers’ Mothers, Valentina Melnikova, noted that during the war in Chechnya relatives of Russian soldiers massively appealed to human rights activists.

However, in the situation with the aggression against Ukraine they do not appeal to them.
